  • Go Veggie!

    07/06/2017 Duration: 32min

Last June as part of my 50/50 list (50 challenges in my 50th year) I decided to go Vegetarian for 50 days. Well, the actual challenge was to go Vegan for 30, but it was a little more than I was ready for so I did what I thought was a fair compromise. Little did I know at the time that this new way of eating would stick and that a year later I would be singing its praises. When people choose to go vegetarian, vegan or the lesser known pescatarian - meaning you eat fish/seafood (this is what I am currently practicing), it's typically for at least one of these three reasons: - Health - Ethical - Environmental For me, it was something I had wanted since I was a teenager but perhaps it was ignorance, laziness or fear that kept me from pursuing the idea. The time is right now and I have been surprised at how simple (most of the time) it has been. It's been way easier than the 50 day sugar-free challenge! If you ask my family when the smoke detector goes off it generally means "Mom's cooking" - ha ha! But alas, I ha

  • Women Fly!

    31/05/2017 Duration: 32min

Yay women!! We rock and this week on Your Life, Unlimited radio on CJOB  I learned you can fly before you drive, literally! The 99's are a global women's aviation group that supports women who have an affinity for all things aviation. I have been fortunate enough to fly with them a couple of times, once with a young 20 something pilot and once in a biplane that my female pilot had built herself - yes she did!! As well, I spoke with Tracy Lee Thibodeau,  a young mom passionate about connecting moms and daughters on a whole new level. She posed the question (and I love it - what makes you melt?). What a delicious question! Ponder it while you enjoy the show!

  • Raise Restraining Device

    15/05/2017 Duration: 31min

If you've ever been downhill skiing, you've seen this sign before you got off the chair-lift: Raise Restraining Device. Most likely these words didn't change your life, but they inspired Steph Jagger to change hers. In UNBOUND - Finding Myself on the Top of the World Jagger shares her story of leaving everything behind and spending a year skiing around the world covering over 4 million vertical feet - unofficially breaking the Guinness Record. She said the girl that left is not the women who returned - it's fascinating and courageous story that we can all learn from. Michel Neray, founder of momondays also joined me and we discuss the power of storytelling and how you can use it to enhance your work and home life. Listen in to our convo for some inspiration to live Your Life, Unlimited!

  • Neurodiversity

    12/05/2017 Duration: 32min

I was fortunate enough to have three healthy children. We rarely made a trip to the hospital, they did well in school and were relatively trouble-free. Not every family breezes through child raising as lucky as we were. Childhood illnesses, behaviour challenges and learning struggles all add to the already all consuming job of parenting.   Today on Your Life, Unlimited radio - Dr. Suki Stone and Sharon Simon talk about solutions for children with reading disabilities from both a parenting and a professional view. Learn from these inspiring women how you can be an advocate for those who can use your support!

  • It's not about being funny - it's about being Present.

    04/05/2017 Duration: 32min

I love improv! I think the people that do it have such clever minds and I respect the level of talent that great improv requires. Improv is not only fun to watch, it is full of skill-sets that can serve you well in all areas of your life. Some tenants of improv include: making your partner look good, trusting that you can handle the situation and the unknown, embracing failure and being open to possibilities and not shutting things down without contributing a solution. Experts in the field, Stephen Sim and Caity Curtis joined me on CJOB radio this week and explained (with humour of course) how living Your Life, Unlimited is much more feasible with comedy on your side. You can find out more about the amazing Stephen and Caity on their Facebook pages below: Facebook.com/winnipegimprovfestival Facebook.com/stephenandcaity And head on over to their website to learn more about their corporate training: The Improv Company

    25/04/2017 Duration: 31min

Two 'leading' ladies joined me on CJOB radio for this week's Your Life, Unlimited show. Your Grow Advisor, Wendy Hofford and I discussed the benefits Strength Based Development via the Clifton Strengths Finder assessment. This tool allows you to find your unique signature themes and plan a process of growth from there. Did you know that people who use their strengths are six times more likely to be engaged on the job and teams that focus on their strengths are 12.5 times more productive?! Fitting in nicely, Yvonne Thompson discusses the importance of self-leadership, self-reliance, and self-responsibility. Are you seeing a theme here?

  • Don't Hover

    18/04/2017 Duration: 33min

It takes a lot to get me out of my comfort zone but Teri Hofford yanked me out! This spitfire photographer does more than just photography, she changes the way women interact with their bodies. Teri's specialty is Boudoir Photography or as she more appropriately calls it, Empowerment Photography. To say it's an experience is an understatement - listen in as we dissect our session. If you want to give yourself a unique gift - this could be it! Speaking of empowering, Elizabeth McCormack has it in spades! This former Blackhawk helicopter pilot and the author of The P.I.L.O.T. Method, shared a taste of her inspiring story with us. I was surprised to learn that it takes more gas to hover in a helicopter than to move forward - isn't that a great analogy for life? Enjoy her tips for success and remember, don't hover!

  • Make Your Heart Smile

    10/04/2017 Duration: 31min

Lots of time in life things just don't line up the way you plan it. And so it was today on Your Life, Unlimited radio (cjob.com) that my first guest did not show up. Hmm..what to do? So I talked, I talked to you, the audience like we were sharing a tea together and you know what? I didn't get interrupted once! ;) Sometimes when things don't turn out like you planned, they end up just fine anyway! And then my lovely second guest, Kate Ferris, arrived early, saving me from babbling alone any longer than need be! Kate is a talented singer, songwriter, storyteller and all around great gal. And if you want to hear passion in action, listen in below. Kate brought Penny (her ukulele) and glowed with the delights this instrument has brought into her life. Personally, as a previous non-musical person, I can't even express how much this instrument has added to my life. Google ukulele clubs in your area - even if it's just to be a fly on the wall - go check it out. Picking up this day to learn, the slightly adduceable l

  • Create Your Own Results

    10/04/2017 Duration: 32min

You can't have negative thoughts when you are giving from a place of love. Laurie Guest, author of Wrapped in Stillness, A Personal Retreat Guide joined me on Your Life, Unlimited radio on CJOB. As a fellow 'motivational speaker' - call us that if you must - we knocked around ideas for increased positivity. She reminded us that nobody knocks on your door and hands you happy. You have to create it for yourself and Laurie shared her favourite question that you can ask yourself whenever you are feeling lack… "In what ways can I be…" Fill in what you feel is missing. Is it healthier, happier, more fun, less stressed etc. Then do the research to answer the question and then do it! Create your own results. Nobody will be knocking on your door and to hand it to you, apparently! Shucks! ;) Right in line with Laurie's way of thinking Debbie Holmes, author of How to Help Others without Losing Yourself shared tips and thoughts that everyone born with the helping gene (which is both a curse and a blessing!) should remind

  • This and That

    24/03/2017 Duration: 31min

This time on CJOB Radio... Gabriella Love is so committed to a cause, a positive shift, so she changed her last name to Love to subliminally send a message of love out into the world. This spunky Air Canada flight attendant likes starting projects almost as much as I do! Selfies for Self-Love was her 365 project born out of her dislike of having her picture taken; she never thought she was 'enough'. In an effort to cultivate confidence and self-love, she looked for the hardest thing - not the easiest, and committed to snapping a photo of herself every day for a year. As the project progressed, instead of it being a painful chore to snap and post daily, she actually began to have fun and felt a positive shift in the way she felt about herself. Her latest project is called A Human Series - and it's about being seen, heard, and sharing stories of overcoming insecurities. And.... Janet Bristeir, a former OR Nurse and the author of Medical Tourism is on a mission to keep people safe when they go out of the country

  • Strategies to Grow your Mind and Develop your Abilities

    16/03/2017 Duration: 33min

Why Does The Lobster Cast Off Its Shell? Six strategies to grow your mind and develop your abilities.  Several times in its life a lobster casts off its shell.  This is an instinctive process. It occurs each time the lobster realizes it has reached a point of crisis. Its predicament is this: the hard shell that has nurtured and protected it so far is now inhibiting its growth.  In order to continue to grow and develop, it needs to discard its old shell and grow a new one.  It's a process that takes about two days. Two days may not seem like a very long time, but it is if you're a lobster. That's two days when it is left naked and vulnerable in the dog-eat-dog (or should I say shark-eat-shark) world of the ocean. In two days, the lobster could become another ocean-creature's lunch. In two days, the relentless action of the waves could slam it against rocks and injure it. Yet, the lobster knows it has no alternative. To continue to mature and advance, it knows it must step outside
