Bharat Nepal has been awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in the General Division for his service to the Nepali community of New South Wales and to mental health. Nepal, who migrated to Australia in 1997, is the second-ever Nepali OAM winner. He is a mental health researcher, advocate and a Mental Health First Aid Instructor. He is also the founding president of the not-for-profit organisation Australian Nepal Public Link (ANPL). Shivali Gurung is representing Nepal in the Asia-Pacific Elite 14 and Under Trophy 2026 in the Australian Grand Slam. Initially interested in soccer, she says her father introduced her to tennis when she was six, and she has not looked back since. Gurung is currently ranked fourth in Asia in the U-14 category.
