  • This Simple Tool Will Help You Get Into Action Even When You Don’t Feel Like It | ETHX 049

    13/02/2018 Duration: 08min

Do you sometimes feel like you don't want to get up and get into action and do what it takes to realize your goals and dreams in life. I do. And when I feel this way, I often use a polarity tool. It's one of the best tools I know of to overcome fear, doubt, laziness, lethargy, or any other form of resistance that is inherent in the human experience. In this episode I talk about how you can make one and use it to get you up and get you into action, even when you don't feel like it. I recommend carrying one with you in your pocket if you have the opportunity. It's one of the most valuable tools a human being can carry and use to enhance the human experience. After listening to this episode I think you'll agree. The idea is simple, but that doesn't mean this tool isn't powerful. This tool has the power to move mountains. A post shared by G. Mark Phillips (@gmarkphillips) on Feb 12, 2018 at 7:24pm PST The power of a polarity tool lies in it's ability to remind you of what you don't want, while s

  • The Most Important Thing | ETHX 048

    06/02/2018 Duration: 11min

What's the most important thing you can do to bring about a radical shift in your experience? It's to spend a few minutes aligning with The Divine every day. In this episode I share some ideas about this powerful and beneficial exercise and I also announce a new tool that will help you shift your perspective quickly and easily and ultimately realize your goals in life faster. It's called The 5 Minute Life Makeover and it's available free on my website. The first step on this tool is to align with The Divine on a daily basis. When you take just a few minutes to align with the source of all creation first thing in the morning, you carry this essence with you throughout your day. The benefits of this connection will then flow into everything you do; your work, your relationships, every aspect of your life will benefit from this simple practice. It's easy to get so caught up in doing things that we can forget to re-connect with the source that makes the doing possible. If we're disconnected for too long f

  • Developing Your Habits and Your Message With Shannon Hernandez (AKA The Shan Man) | ETHX 047

    29/01/2018 Duration: 01h07min

This episode covers quite a bit.  From personal development, to producing a professional sounding podcast, to discovering and sharing your message with others. Shannon Hernandez (a.k.a. The Shan Man) has been a professional radio DJ for the past 17 years. He's spent 16 of those years at 98 KUPD, in Phoenix, AZ. He also runs his own business coaching entrepreneurs and business people on how to discover and share their message via a professional sounding podcast. I first discovered Shannon and his helpful content on YouTube last year, as I was getting ready to launch my own podcast. Since that time, I've followed him as he launched his podcast, Be The Experience, and as he continues to produce really helpful content via his YouTube channel (see below for the link). Show Notes Early on, Shannon had a dream to work in radio. He realized his dream when he was hired as a DJ for 98 KUPD in Phoenix, Arizona. In addition to being a professional DJ, he also helps business people launch their podcast and sha

  • The 7 Day Mental Diet, By Emmet Fox | ETHX 046

    22/01/2018 Duration: 18min

Due to the popularity of Emmet Fox's work, I have a number of episodes planned for the future that center around his teachings. The popularity of an episode I produced last year, The Golden Key and How to Use It is evidence that you all find his prescriptions for metaphysical healing as helpful I do. In today's episode, I'm talking about The 7 Day Mental Diet: How to Change Your Life in a Week.  This is another very clear and concise work by Mr Fox. As he says in the introduction, it's ultimately a prescription for "psychological and spiritual rejuvenation". As for why you'd want to go on The 7 Day Mental Diet, well, the answer is summed up in the follow passage from the book: Everything in your life today, the state of your body, whether healthy or sick, the state of your fortune, whether prosperous or impoverished, the state of your home, whether happy or the reverse, the present condition of every phase of your life in fact is entirely conditioned by the thoughts and feelings which you have entertained

  • It’s More Than a Feeling | ETHX 045

    16/01/2018 Duration: 10min

The other day I was listening to an interview with Gary Vaynerchuck. At one point during the interview he said something that really struck me. What he said became the inspiration for this episode. He said he knew he was going to be successful before he ever realized any of the success he now enjoys. He knew it. Are you familiar with this popular success formula?: Your thoughts lead to your feelings.  Your feelings lead to your actions.  Your actions lead to your results. Well, if your thoughts lead to your feelings, then it stands to reason that the more intense the thought, the more intense the feeling. And, the more intense the feeling, the more you will be spurred to take action. So, imagine how intense your feelings would be if instead of just thinking something, you knew it. This is the power of knowing. And, that's the valuable insight into success that Gary shared with us. The goal for all of us is to get our feelings (vibrations) as high as possible and keep them there for as long as possibl

  • The Story Behind The Magic Of Being Series (And a Reading) | ETHX 044

  • Recapping 2017 And What To Expect In 2018 | ETHX 043

    02/01/2018 Duration: 20min

With 2018 now under way and 2017 behind us, I thought I would share some behind-the-scenes stories from this past year. I'd also like to give you an idea of what you can expect from the show (and some other ventures I'm working on) moving forward in 2018. There were definitely some challenges in 2017, but there were also some wins. I learned a lot about the constant and never ending process of improvement that is a natural by-product of producing quality audio and video content. While I still have a lot to learn, I'm feeling much more comfortable than I did last year.  This should translate into a better listening and viewing experience for you. Here's a recap of what happened in 2017: I inadvertently launched my podcast on April Fool's Day.  I didn't plan on doing this.  I just wasn't paying attention to the date and I was ready to have the podcast off the ground and flying.  Oops... Toward the end of the year, I finally finished book two in The Magic of Being Series.  This is a HUGE project to have

  • The Gestation Period of Your Vision – ETHE 042

    26/12/2017 Duration: 14min

A rat: 21 days A dog: 63 days A human being: 278 days. An elephant: 624 days. Everything that comes into the physical world has a gestation period. Your vision is no exception. However, unlike the gestation periods of the animals listed above, the gestation period of your vision can be shortened. In this episode I share five ways you can do that. Like everything that comes into the material world, your vision begins as a seed. In this case, a thought seed. You choose the idea you want to realize and place the seed in your consciousness. Then, by focusing on it daily and taking specific actions in specific ways, you energize the seed you've chosen and it becomes a reality. Here are five ways to quicken the gestation period of your vision 1 - Realize that you're not creating it. You're not making it happen. In fact, you're not making anything happen. None of us are. God is. Whatever you want to call this creative source of the Universe, that's the power that's making it happen. We're simply focusin

  • Will Your Big Idea Make an Impact? Here Are 4 Ways to Tell – ETHE 041

    19/12/2017 Duration: 14min

Buckminster Fuller (one of my heros) once said, "Real wealth is ideas + energy." Now, I may not know you, but I'll bet you have an idea (or a lot of them) inside of you that you're thinking of energizing and sharing with the world?  And, I'll bet you're wondering if your idea (or ideas) will make an impact? In this episode I share four criteria you can vet your idea against to determine whether or not it has the potential to make a big impact. Doing this will give you a better sense of whether or not you should put energy into it. Why is it so important to determine if your idea has the potential to make a big impact before you put a lot of energy into it? Because ideas are the seeds of wealth.  You want to make sure the seed you're thinking of planting has the potential to reap a big harvest (i.e. make a big impact) before you plant it.  The bigger the impact your idea makes, the more wealth that will be created for yourself and others. The two best things about ideas are: They're accessible by anyo

  • The Power of Perception (and How to Change it) – ETHE 040

    12/12/2017 Duration: 11min

(In this episode, I said there are 8 million people on the planet.  I meant 8 billion :)  And, since I was curious I did a search.  It turns out there are just shy of 7.6 billion people on the planet.) In the game of life, perception is everything. The way we perceive ourselves, others, and the world at large influences the experiences we create for ourselves. Perception is the reason that despite living on the same planet, and for the most part, having access to the same opportunities and resources, we're all having vastly different experiences. This is even more interesting given the fact that we live in the information age, where almost everyone has access to the same knowledge as everyone else.  Yet, still there is a large disparity in the experiences we're having. What accounts for this difference? Perception. Before we dive into this topic, let's look at the definition of perception. Perception is our ability to see, hear, or become aware of something through the senses. Or, the way something

  • 4 Things To Do When You Feel Like Giving Up – ETHE 039

    05/12/2017 Duration: 17min

Do you ever feel like giving up?  If you do, you're in good company.  I can't think of any successful person who didn't feel like giving up at some point in their lives. In fact, most of them say they wanted to throw in the towel multiple times on their journey to success. But they stuck with it.  They dug deeper each time they felt like giving up and eventually they realized their goal. In an interview with Success Magazine, Sean Stephenson said he wanted to quit so many times as he was working toward his PhD.  But he didn't quit.  Eventually he realized his goal and he was glad he stuck with it. Before Gal Gadot landed her break-out role as Wonder Woman, she said she was close to giving up on her acting career all together because of the rejections she received. And, for years Tyler Perry's plays didn't attract an audience, but he never gave up on his dream of writing, producing and starring on stage.  Eventually he realized his dream, and today he's one of the most successful figures in Hollywood. • Complete Your Most Important Project by Year-End using Parkinson’s Law – ETHE 038

    28/11/2017 Duration: 07min

Do you have a project you'd like to get done by the end of the year?  I do.  And because of this, I feel that now is a great time to remind ourselves of Parkinson’s Law.  With one month left in 2017, now is the time to pull out all the stops so we can finish the biggest projects on our to-do list by year-end. Parkinson’s Law states that; work expands to fill the time available for its completion. Sound familiar?  I don't know about you, but I know all too well just how true this law is.  I also know how detrimental being ignorant of this law can be to my productivity. If you happen to be a recovering perfectionist like I am, this law is a God-send.  Because, like anything else in life, being aware of it is the first step in improving. When we wake up to the fact that having more time will never make our project more perfect, we drop the charade and get down to business. Being aware of the law, and applying it in an advantageous way works magic.  It can seriously help us complete even the most complicated

  • Transcendental Meditation and “The Best Education I’ve Ever Had” with Tracy L’Herisson – ETHE 037

    20/11/2017 Duration: 01h09min

My guest this week is Tracy L’Herisson.  I recently met Tracy at a Transcendental Meditation group meditation.  During the event, we all shared a little about ourselves, and a few people shared some of the benefits they have realized from learning and practicing Transcendental Meditation. When Tracy introduced herself, she said something that really stuck me.  She said that learning Transcendental Meditation, and attending Maharishi University of Management (formerly MIU) was, the best education she's ever had. Now, I don't know about you, but when I hear someone say something like that, I am very interested in learning more. So, after the event, I went up and introduced myself.  We talked briefly about her experiences there, and I invited her to share them on the show.  I was happy when she said she would. The knowledge that Tracy share's in this episode is so important to realizing more happiness and success in our lives.  I hope you enjoy the interview.  I certainly did. Show Notes Tracy is a fifth

  • Getting Out of Our Own Way – ETHE 036

    14/11/2017 Duration: 10min

If there ever was a universal success mantra for us human beings, it would certainly be: "Get out of your own way." Due to the nature of mind, we face a challenge every day. That challenge being, let go of old ways of being and doing, and embrace new ways. Sounds pretty simple on paper, but as you and I both know, it's anything but simple in practice. It takes a daily commitment to show up, face ourselves, and be brutally honest about how we may be sabotaging out own efforts. The underlying problem is that we typically cling so tightly to our past story and our conditioned thinking that it often becomes an impediment to us manifesting new (and better) experiences into our lives. So the practice is to continually shed out-dated beliefs, judgments, criticism, and ideas that no longer serve us (if they ever really did), and embrace new ideas. Ideas that move us more into alignment with our desired outcome. In other words, to get out of our own way. As with any type of personal growth, the first step is a

  • Practicing Bodhicitta with AlejAndro Anastasio on Pilgrimage to China and Tibet – ETHE 035

    07/11/2017 Duration: 01h09min

AlejAndro Anastasio knows how to do a pilgrimage.  He recently returned from China and Tibet, where he spent five weeks serving others, touring the area, and spending time with shaolin monks. I recently sat down with him and he shared his experience.  In addition to discussing the trip, he shared some deep level knowledge about the history of Buddhism and the martial arts.  You see, AlejAndro isn't your typical tourist.  He's a Dzogchen Vajrayana Buddhist practitioner.  He also holds black belts in three martial arts.  And, if that weren't enough, he has a deep affinity for Zen (or Chan, as they call it in China). For those of you who are unfamiliar with Bodhicitta, here's a definition: "Bodhicitta is a mind (including thought, action, feeling and speech) totally dedicated to others and to achieving full enlightenment in order to benefit all sentient beings as fully as possible." Source Show Notes The primary purpose of AlejAndro's trip, was to serve as part of a medical mission at the request of one of

  • The Fine Art of Refinement – ETHE 034

    31/10/2017 Duration: 17min

When it comes to enhancing the human experience, refinement is the name of the game. Since each of us is ultimately the cause of the experiences we attract (or create) in life, to have better experiences, we have to become better.  In other words, we have to improve ourselves. We do this through the process of personal development. And, since each of us is ultimately an individualized expression of universal consciousness, the process we're really engaging in is the process of developing our individual state of consciousness. Before we get into the process, let's reacquaint ourselves with the definition of refine. Refine 1 - Improve (something) by making small changes, in particular make (an idea, theory, or method) more subtle and accurate. 2 - Remove impurities or unwanted elements from (a substance), typically as part of an industrial process. As individualized expressions of consciousness, each of us is ultimately an idea, or a collection of ideas. The goal of personal development then is to remo

  • The Human Being’s Manifesto – ETHE 033

    23/10/2017 Duration: 15min

The Human Being's Manifesto is a concise written statement I created to remind you of the divine ability you have to consciously create yourself at the level of thought, using your imagination. When used in conjunction with your existing personal development exercises, it becomes a powerful tool for personal transformation. Regularly reciting the manifesto can empower and motivate you as you pursue your goals and dreams in life. The Manifesto distills the core concepts from my book, Just Be It!: The Secret to Having What You Want in Life, into a simple, easy to remember document. It's available as a free download on the website. Below are the key components of The Manifesto: Your past is irrelevant, and your future is not yet determined. Now is the only moment in time you can consciously create yourself. Imagination is the vehicle for personal transformation. It is essential to renew your state of being on a daily basis for optimal results. Why is your state of being so important? Because what

  • A Personal Development Lesson From an Ancient Tibetan Text – ETHE 032

    17/10/2017 Duration: 14min

When it comes to personal development, there are lots of ideas we can use to become the best versions of ourselves.  The idea I share in this episode of the podcast is one of those.  I was reminded of it recently when I watched The Tibetan Book of The Dead.  This documentary film follows Buddhist monks as they perform the rites of passage for those who have recently died.  Their goal is to help the consciousness of the deceased person either realize it's true nature, or find a good rebirth.  The movie has some profound implications for we the living, and our own journey through life, most importantly the idea of letting go. Show Notes The Tibetan Book of the Dead is read to those who have died, to assist them in either waking up to their true nature, or finding a good rebirth. We can adapt the central idea from this book to our own personal development journey. While the idea is to help the individual who has died, let go, we can learn from this as well. We can use this idea in our own lives to help

  • 5 Suggestions for Fearless Living in Troubled Times – ETHE 031

    10/10/2017 Duration: 07min

In light of the recent Las Vegas shooting, I thought I'd share some ideas on fearless living.  Now, I should preface this week's podcast by stating that I'm not an expert at living fearlessly.  However, it's something that I'm making a conscious effort to do more and more each day. These ideas are from a book that I've gotten a lot out of over the years.  It based on the Buddhist philosophy of non-dualistic thinking, and how when employed can help us alleviate a lot of the suffering we experience as human beings living from a me vs. them mindset. Here is the passage... "Here are five specific suggestions [for fearless living in troubled times]. Embrace oneness: Remember that we are one in consciousness.  Every time you create a separation (through judgement), you create suffering -- usually for yourself. Practice daily self-reflection: It is essential to find a way to quiet the ongoing mental chatter.  We recommend some sort of daily meditation.  Meditation really works -- that's why so many people do

  • Becoming a Spiritual Warrior and Creating Powerful Change in the World with Chris Karamyar – ETHE 030

    03/10/2017 Duration: 27min

Chris Karamyar is the founder and host of Rise of Humanity podcast.  Rise of Humanity is the training ground for spiritual warriors that have been called upon to make powerful change in the world.  I recently discovered Chris's podcast, and I have really enjoyed listening to his engaging style and the amazing guests he's invited to be on his show.  You'll find a link below in the resources section to listen to his podcast.  I recommend that you listen to his interview with Peter Sage.  It's fantastic.  During the interview Peter shares his experiences in Pentonville, one of England's toughest prisons.  It's a fascinating tale of mastering one's emotions and maintaining a positive mindset in a very negatively charged environment. Show Notes Chris never really felt settled and had a feeling there was more out there for him to do in the world He worked a lot of different jobs before finding his path. After breaking through his fear, he launched Rise of Humanity. Initially resisting this journey, he even
