Have you ever done something you regretted? We all have. Today we learn what to do with that regret. Maybe we longed for something more that we couldn’t fulfill so we pursued other things. And when it doesn’t satisfy we end up with regret. Today is about helping us know what to do when we experience that regret.

Do you long to be loved and to share love? We all do, it’s the way we were designed. But for so many people in the world, they chase after lies and emptiness to try and fill that longing instead of turning to the Creator for the all encompassing sacrificial love that only He provides. If you’ve been pursing “things” to try and fill that void in your heart, we ask you to consider turning to God and let Him make your life complete. That’s the story of the Prodigal Son that we will explore over the next 5 weeks.

Jesus preached that the Kingdom of Heaven is near! His return is a subject many of us Christians get uneasy about. Maybe we’re afraid of the unknown and what being taken up to heaven might be like. Maybe some of us still wrestle with our salvation and believing that Jesus finds us worthy? But if you put your faith in Him, the day is coming when He will take you to heaven to live in perfection with Him. As we listen to scripture that reflects Jesus’ heart on this, we explore how important it is to us to live a life worthy of redemption. Jesus paid for it, so it's ours to own.

Persistence means “firm continuance in a course of action in spite of difficulty or opposition.” As we continue to look at the parables of Jesus recorded in the Gospel of Luke, Jesus tells us not to give up praying by drawing a connection to a persistent widow who was seeking justice. Life is difficult. Answers and relief do not always come right away. We can get discouraged or, we can draw closer to God and persistently meet with Him in prayer. Just as Jesus modeled for us, let us talk to the Father continually, and deepen our relationship with Him.

In today’s parable, Jesus paints a picture that’s tough to swallow. It’s one of a man who had much to give, but chose to ignore those in need who came to his doorstep seeking mercy. Because the man had no compassion, he was sent to hell when he died and was tormented. He wanted to join those who were in heaven but couldn’t. He wanted his family to be warned not to make the same mistake he did, but he was not allowed. None of us want to believe that we could end up separated from God forever, but we will if we ignore the invitation of Christ. Is there someone you see every day that is in need? Would you make a decision to help that person and love them like Christ loves you?

In today’s passage Jesus tells us about the importance of using our wealth to make a difference for the kingdom. If we use our money to help a stranger, or a neighbor, without cause or reason, we demonstrate an unconventional love that God will reward us for eternally. Yes, it seems risky, and some would even say foolish but God gives to us so we can give to others. That’s Kingdom logic, and that’s just one way we can show the love of Christ. In today’s scripture, Jesus is having conversations at a dinner party with a room full of people including the religious elite when a man says this in response to Jesus’ teaching, “Blessed is the man who will eat at the feast in the Kingdom of God.” This man understood that God invited us to His feast! Those of us who are poor and less fortunate have been given a seat of honor at His table. The lesson Jesus was teaching to the religious elite, and to us, is to show love to less fortunate, or those who really need our help. Are you looking for opportunities to bless?

As Colonial Point strives to make disciples by giving of our time, treasure and talent, we examine the final minor prophet in this series, Malachi. He writes of the Israelite's failure to give God their best offerings. God has decreed was is an acceptable offering, but it’s up to us to determine what we give. A trap that many of us fall into, just like the Israelite's, is giving God our least, but expecting His best. The message today from Malachi is to offer God our very best with the intention of making His name great, not ours.

We all make excuses that drive us away from our priorities. And today we learn from Haggai and the excuses we make in our relationship with God. For the people of Israel were building their own houses and not rebuilding God’s house. As we apply that in our lives today, we have to ask ourselves are we building God’s kingdom, or are we building our own kingdom? Join us, pray with us, as we earnestly seek to better align with God’s priorities and learn how to love what God loves.

One of the most talked about subjects for believers and unbelievers is the “End of Days”. So to help us make some sense of biblical history and interpretations of the book of Revelation, Jim and Chas walk us through some key points and hopefully help you to understand what’s to come in the future and what’s important for us to do now.

Where do you turn when justice does not prevail? Habakkuk says seek God for help and live by faith. Easier said than done right? As we know how easy it is to turn to other comforts when calamity strikes. Abraham, Noah, David, Joseph... As we look at the message from Habakkuk today, we find inspiration and hope to live by faith in the face of difficult circumstances.

For anyone who’s ever had to go to Court and stand before a judge and be called to account for your actions, you know it’s a scary place to be. In this series on the minor prophets, we see a theme of Israel turning away from God, God warning them, the nation being judged and punished, and God’s mercy as He calls them back to be His people. IN today’s scripture from Micah, God who is the ultimate judge, calls His people to account because they loved evil and hated goodness. He reminds them of what He has done for them despite their rebelliousness and only asks that they love what he loves, that is, His people. Our challenge today is the same; to act justly, love mercy, walk humbly with our God and love people in the name of Jesus.

As we continue our series on the Minor Prophets, we hear from Amos, whose message from God was one of restoration. Israel had forgotten God and relied on their own wealth and power while God tried over and over to get their attention so that they would turn back to Him as their source of life. But they did not listen and faced judgment. So what does this mean for us today? Start by asking what does it take for us to give God out attention. Because our God wants to be in an intimate relationship with us. And the better our relationship with Him is, the more we can love others the way He loves us.

One of the most difficult questions that people struggle with is why bad things happen to good people. Why does our loving God allow pain to enter our lives? Today we read the story of Jonah to help us understand this. Jonah, who was on the brink of death, drew closer to God and went on to deliver a message from God that saved an entire city. So what can we learn from our pain situations? Join us today to learn some very important lessons that God gives us to help us grow in faith and character.

Today Jim Turney and Jim Hopkins look at the parallels between the story of Hosea and Gomer, God and Israel, and Jesus and us. In each story, a price had to be paid in order for reconciliation to occur. Our God is in relentless pursuit of us so he can lavish His love unto us. Today’s verse in 1 Peter, refers to us as a chosen people, a royal priesthood. In Old Testament times the priests served at the temple and oversaw the ceremonies. They also mediated between God and the people. We too are mediators between God and those who have not yet recognized Him.
