Everyone has a story. It’s the story of what God has done in you and through you. It’s the story of your personal experiences walking with Jesus. It’s the story that other people need to hear so they can start to understand the power of Christ. One of the great personal stories in the bible is from Acts 22, the testimony of Paul and his experience with Jesus on the road to Damascus. Paul explains his life before he met Jesus, the moment when he chose to follow Him, and what life has been since that encounter. Your story is just as powerful. Know it. And like Peter wrote, “be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope you have.”

The mission of the church has always been to share the Gospel truth of Jesus Christ. Colonial Point’s mission is to pray for one more person that we can love like Jesus and share His message with. We want to encourage you to live out that mission every day! Join us as we look at some surprising statistics and be encouraged to fulfill our mission.

One of the biggest reasons people leave or stay away from churches is money. It’s scary how money has caused terrible issues in churches and turned people off not only to church , but God. But if we treat money the way that Jesus taught us to, then the church becomes very attractive, meaningful and purposeful. We continue to look at Acts and the story of how the early church was extremely generous. People like us did extraordinary things to meet the needs of others without even knowing them. Just image what Colonial Point would look like if we followed that example? To learn more listen to today’s teaching.

We start a new series looking at all the reasons why the church of Jesus Christ is so great. We’ll kick off the series by first looking at all the reasons why people don’t like church. There are many! However, in Acts we get a great picture of the early church and how it flourished and functioned and the things the early followers did to make the church attractive and irresistible. This scripture will reveal some key actions we can take to make the church irresistible today. It’s up to us!

As Colonial Point celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ, we review the account of Luke on the day that Jesus rose from the dead. Pastor Jim reminds us of the significance of Jesus and how He has already overcome the world so we don’t have to. We just have to go to Him for all things and at all times.

Have you ever been accused of something you didn’t do? Do you remember your reaction? If you’re human, you probably jumped up and defended yourself so as not to receive the blame and feel shamed and guilty. Today Pastor Jim reminds us of how Jesus reacted while being beaten and killed. His response was to show love for the angry crowd; the Jewish leaders, and the Roman soldiers by petitioning God on their behalf. Jesus reminds us that we are missing something. We have blind spots and don’t see some of our sinful behaviors, just like the angry mob who wanted him crucified. Today we ask God to open our eyes to our own blind spots so that we can show love to others just like our Savior Jesus did.

In today’s sermon, we walk with Jesus through his trials before the Jewish leaders, Herod, and Pilate leading up to his crucifixion. While this is going on, Barabbas, a known criminal sits in jail awaiting his execution. If you are Barabbas, you know your time is short. But, you find out a mob is shouting for your release over a bloodied, beaten man named Jesus who has committed no crime. Jesus literally took the punishment, or took the place of Barabbas, who is now free. Isn’t that what Jesus did for us too! He took our place on the cross so we would not receive just punishment for our sin. We reflect on that and how we can respond to such an act of love.

As we approach the celebration of the Resurrection of Jesus, our guest speaker teaches us about the ascension and return of Jesus. What is especially noteworthy, is that as Jesus left the earth, He instructed the disciples to be a witness, meaning, to testify to what they have seen and heard. As we wait for Jesus to return, what is our responsibility? Is it not the same as the 12? Where are you going to be a witness today?

In the time that Jesus spend with his disciples on the night He was betrayed, He shared with them the Passover meal which was done in honor of God’s protection over the Israelites in Egypt when He saved them from Pharaoh’s schemes. But not, Jesus was sharing a new promise with them. The promise of how God would once again protect them from their own sins and save them for eternity through Jesus. But they did not understand and argued over Jesus announcement that He would be leaving them and which one would be the greatest after He left.

We find meaning, purpose and fulfillment when we are in relationship, especially when we’re in relationship with God. As we continue with our study on relationships, we focus on the aspects of love found in 1 Corinthians 13. Love chooses to see the best, believe the best, and overlook the rest.

Now that we’ve looked at love as the goal we should all strive for in our relationships, let’s focus in on the role of the husband and how he is to be in relationship with his wife. In the same way that Jesus loved the church; husbands are to love their wives, laying down their very lives, treating them with love, respect, and honor.

In this new series we look at relationships by understanding that we were created to be in relationship with God and others. And how we live in those relationships will determine our health. We begin with the myth that if we find that one perfect person our lives will be perfect. Will it? Or do we need to focus more on making ourselves that right person? Love is at the center of that transformation and we use God’s definition of what love is to guide us.

There is an end coming for us. What will yours be? Will you live with the end in mind? Paul urges us to b intentional and live life with a purpose. He wants us to run a good race and finish well. Jim takes some key points from Paul’s letter to the Corinthians to help us honor God with our lives. How are you going to finish?

Next in our series, we take a practical look at how to share the message of Christ. First, we must believe that we are called to persuade people to accept Jesus. The verse in 1 Peter 3 tells us this, and throughout Pau’s letters, he pleads and begs us to engage in reconciliation between man and God. Pastor Jim Turney shares some scripture and ideas to help you become a bold messenger for Christ.

As Colonial Point starts this year by committing to follow the instruction of Christ to go into the world and make disciples of all nations, we first look at what discipleship is. Jesus invites everyone to follow Him, to spend time with Him, to be transformed by Him. Will you accept that invitation to follow Jesus today, and share what He is doing in you with someone else?

At the beginning of each year Colonial Point specifies it’s goals for the new year. Pastor Jim Turney talks about the goals of discipleship and the importance of the great commission that Jesus gave us. We live in a world that has divisions over race, politics, marriage and a host of other issues that leaves us feeling overburdened and stressed. And that harms our relationships with each other. David Philips shares some simple truths to help us be at peace as we sit at the feet of God.

Today’s message focus on our posture before our King and Savior Jesus. What did the wise men do when they finally found the baby Jesus? What did Peter do when Jesus filled his boat with an abundance of fish? What about the man to came to Jesus believing in Him and seeking healing for his son? Or, the wealthy man who came to Jesus asking what he must do to inherit eternal life? The answer is that they all bowed down before him. And one day, when Jesus returns, the whole earth will bow before Him. What’s your posture when you worship Jesus? We encourage you this Christmas to spend time on your knees in the presence of Jesus Christ and make Him Lord of your life.

First, Brian Zitt from Florida shares his testimony about the saving power of Jesus that rescued him from a life of drugs and gambling. Now, Brian travels and preaches about the power of Christ and the Gospel message. Then, Jim Turney continues our series. Jesus taught a parable of a rich farmer who had a bumper crop who built bigger storehouses so he could save all of the extra harvest and live easily. But, the man died and lost it all. We too are very good at storing up treasures. We store extra socks, money, canned goods, tools. Some of us have extra cars, houses, insurance plans. What do you do with the extra that you receive from God? Do you store it up for yourself? Perhaps you assume the extra is for you? Could God be blessing you with extra so He could bless somebody else through you? This is what it means to be rich towards God! Jesus said, store up your treasures in Heaven and there is where you heart will be.

In part two of this short series, David Philips helps us understand that every one of us is gifted by God, through His grace, for certain works which are intended to be used as part of the body of the church.
