This week we are beginning our first Courageous Conversation with a conversation about LGBTQ+ This is a topic that has touched the lives of many in our community and we must approach this topic by speaking the truth in love. Join us this week as we continue to learn how to have courageous conversations.

What would the world be like if we were quick to examine ourselves, course correct, and confess when we have done wrong? The answer: It would be heavenly. So why then do most people struggle with this plan? It's all about letting go of our fears and allowing God to do his work on our Spirits. This month at our First Wednesday Service, we will be exploring two important Survival tools, that when implemented, guarantee spiritual growth; not just any growth, growth in the Spirit of Christ! Be ready! Be strong! Be faithful!

Many of us prefer to avoid an issue, rather than participate in a controversial and perhaps heated conversation. Consequently, we “opt out.” Or we adopt the role of an aggressor. We become annoyed and maybe even offensive in our language and body language. Is one of these your tendency? However, these are not the ways we should go about it. Join us this week as we learn how to engage in Courageous Conversations with the world around us.

2020 has been an interesting year for all of us, but no matter what we experienced this year or even next year, our God is the same.

God always does everything in his perfect timing. The events of history are not random. The events surrounding Jesus' birth, life, death, and resurrection didn't happen by chance. The events of our lives are not random either, and if that is the case, why are you here right now? Right place, and right time. You may call it a family, but a true Survivor Group of Christians can be the tightest of all. We strive not just for our own survival but for the eternal salvation of the people around us. Be ready! Today we are going to focus on a story that is heavily focused on fatherhood and sonship: the Parable of the Prodigal Son. In this parable, there are 3 characters: the father, the rebellious son, and the entitled son. Which son are you?

In this parable we find Jesus’ teaching about the cataclysmic times just before Christ’s return. The judge in this story is unjust and isn’t at all like God. It’s a story, not of comparison, but of contrast.

If there ever was a group of people who felt ill-prepared for the monumental mission of world evangelization, it would have been the disciples of Jesus at the end of the Gospels. Anxious, frazzled, frightened, and leaderless, this group of 120 followers (Acts 1:15) were in no position to take the world by storm. Yet, by the end of the first day of the birth of the church, this tiny movement had grown to three thousand followers of Christ, and increased exponentially by the end of the second chapter of the book of Acts (“…And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.”) So, what or WHO made the difference? How did this small group of timid believers become a catalyst for the spreading of the Gospel throughout the world? What happens to us and our communities when the promised Holy Spirit of God indwells and fills our lives?

In this week's sermon, Jesus is invited to a dinner party. He uses this opportunity to tell The Parable of the Great Banquet. Using this parable Jesus tells us exactly who he wants to attend his grand banquet. You, just like the religious leaders at the dinner party, might assume that this grand banquet is for the truly righteous. The best of the best! However, that is not what Jesus wants. God entrusts us with the mission of spreading the Gospel, and it is up to us to surrender ourselves to be used for His purpose. The reality is for every right choice, there is a wrong choice.
