Episode 60 - Listener Whines

Our discussion this week is working from home with family around. Topics include: missing seeing people in person, managing bandwidth use, staying quiet, internet challenges, work/life balance, and staving off boredom. K finished the sock, Anne created a lego masterpiece, and J needs to mail things. Anne is happy for continuing connection, K is gaming, and J is bingeing Netflix. Episode 58 - WFH Furry Colleagues

We each have our own quarantine beverages - J's drinking a can of Citizen's Cider United Press Semi-Dry Cider from the back of her fridge; K is having La Belle Winery's Corazon Rose which is an off-dry rose; Holly's having La Belle Winery's Spiced Winter Pear with a mixer of OJ and also some self-care iced tea she got from a witches market in Salem, MA. Our topic today is working from home with furry co-workers (aka pets). Topics include: cats interjecting into Zoom conversations as cute distractions, noisy distractions, or even just outright aggressors; virtual pet sharing; cats being tired of us being home; secret life of pets; academic life/trauma prepping you for isolation; anxiety about future plans. Projects this week: J is still working on crocheted Just Born bunnies; K is almost done with the sock and working on her blanket; and Holly is gradually cleaning her house and working on a new creativity vlog. Episode 57 - Zoomed Out
27/03/2020 Duration: 01h01minEpisode 57! We're still at home, recording from afar. J enjoys a glass of Barefoot Pinot Grigio from the giant bottle that's been living in her fridge for a few weeks. K has some 14 Hands Merlot, which has notes of mocha and is inspired by small wild horses. We don't know about you all, but we're in the land of a 1,000 Zoom Meetings. Topics include: happy for tech that allows us to keep doing our jobs, dealing with structured meeting times, people not understanding how to use the mute button, yelling during a call, meetings that go on too long, feeling disconnected, not knowing how to use the platform, how presentable you need to be, interruptions, and general productivity. K's made some progress on the sock project, and J started a new seasonal project. We also discuss pandemic craft supply hoarding and making masks for hospitals who are lacking PPE. Episode 56 - "New Normal"

J enjoys Maipe Malbec from Argentina which is spicy and delicious while K enjoys Knapp Winery’s Triple Berry wine, but not before trying out “wine label mad libs” a new game K invented. We then check in on the chaos/complete insanity that has ensued since March 11 and COVID-19 impacts on the world. Topics include: J’s trip to Disney, working from home, healthcare, decreases in social interaction, hoarders who suck, control/coping mechanisms, human life vs. economic ramifications, and possibilities for connection. J’s gone back to Baby Yodas while watching movies, and K made gifts for her CPE cohort as graduation gifts! J is happy to connect with people virtually, K is glad for CPE to be done! Cheers!

Jess and Kristen love Ireland, Celtic Rock, Highland games, and bagpipe music, but could do without the craziness of Boston on St. Patrick's Day. Topics include: ridiculous day drinking, disgusting green food & beer, difficult drunk Bostonians, wearing green or orange, going to excess, St. Gertrude's Day, and Evacuation Day. Then we catch up on crafting: J finished her Tigger for her sister. K and J are both working on "the sock" and finding the instructions VERY confusing. K is happy for a quick checkout at Target and J is happy for repairs in her apartment. Cheers! Episode 54 - Can You See Me?

K catches us up on how her overnight on-call went which leads into our main discussion of feeling unseen or avoided in caring professions. Topics include: Ash Wednesday, people not making eye contact with you, being more than just a person to seek out in a crisis, strategies for explaining what you do so you're not immediately dismissed, feeling taken for granted sometimes, reminding you to just communicate with us rather than avoiding us! For projects this week, we have a mini-update on the sock project, J is working on a Disney-themed amigurumi and K is working on gifts for her intern colleagues. J is glad she's started back with yoga and is gratitude journaling and K is excited for wedding anniversary plans. Cheers! Episode 53 - Starting Over
28/02/2020 Duration: 55minEpisode 53 and year 2 of WWKD! (Don't worry, we still don't know what we're doing). We enjoy Villa Maria Sauvignon Blanc from the Marlborough region of New Zealand, which is described as sustainable, approachable, and dry. We introduce a new format this week which includes working on the same (knitted) project. Our main whine is about starting over, whether it be in crafting, working out, or going back to some other skill you once possessed. Topics include, anger, the phrase "just like riding a bike" being inaccurate, losing a routine, negative self-talk, knowing your limits, grace, not living up to your standards, and not giving up easily. We're both working on that same project - a sport weight sock "for her"...which is yielding a lot of feelings for both of us. J's good news is that she's almost at Disney, and K is grateful for some downtime from work/CPE. Cheers! K is working on her big blanket using a charted pattern for the first time, and J is ready for Baby Yodas to be done and move on to her next project! Episode 46 - Attention Shoppers

K's off the wagon again (ha) so we both enjoyed Cocobon Roasted Oak Red Blend, a red wine with notes of vanilla, espresso, and chocolate. We catch up on each other's holiday adventures and then move on to this weeks whine shopping in stores and the other shoppers you encounter. Topics include: Target on the weekend, spatial awareness, shoppers who think they're the only ones in the store, not finding what you want, not enough employees, uninvited conversations, not reading coupons, ridiculous requests, fast trips turning into long trips, shopping carts, and free samples. J finished her last blanket project and moved on to some amigurumi and K finished several projects and has moved on to crafting for a cause related to the wildfires in Australia. We cover some Thanksgiving updates which lead into this week's main whine - being sick! J was sick for Thanksgiving and her birthday and K came down with the flu after getting the flu shot. We discuss people's judgments about you, how you should still get a flu shot even if it isn't 100% effective, and being grateful for nice people when you feel awful. K finished two baby and me projects and is thinking about what her next project will be, J is still working on Christmas presents and managed to finish a quick one while in PA.
