Mind of Her Own is hosted by Julie Trites, a passionate womens mental health advocate known for speaking her mind about her own struggles with postpartum depression and generalized anxiety.     On today’s episode Julie talks to Kendra Fisher. In the summer of 1999, Kendra was on the brink of achieving her dream of becoming a goaltender for Canada’s national women’s ice hockey team. She was invited to tryout camp, but didn’t get far before suffering a mental breakdown that would change everything. Kendra was diagnosed with a Severe Anxiety Disorder along with Severe Panic Attacks, Depression and Agoraphobia; forcing her to leave the national hockey program and walk away from her dream in order to seek help. Kendra is now on a personal mission to break down the stigma of mental illness and educate others about the importance of staying mentally fit.
