  • The Flagship Show: Patreon Playlist Show #4 - Programmed By Victor Field

    15/03/2023 Duration: 01h14min

Today you get to enjoy the fourth show programmed by one of our patrons from the CONDUCTOR TIER over at our Patreon page.  In this tier, which is $10 USD ($14.50 CAN), donors get all of the benefits of lower tiers PLUS they earn the opportunity to program their very own personal one-hour(ish) show once a year. Victor Field, a long-time fan of the show, took advantage of this opportunity and this is the show that he put together for us to enjoy! So, how did Victor get into soundtrack collecting? This is what he had to say... I was born in England but my dad moved us to his home country of Barbados in 1976. I spent my childhood and teen years there before coming back to England to live in 1993. One of first album purchases was TVT's double album "Television's Greatest Hits". I think it was I didn't want to be listening to what everyone else around me was, I'm still kicking myself that I was so late to discover taping from the TV. I once asked my dad why we never went to see "Star Wars" (I refuse to call it "

  • The Flagship Show: The Oscars Suck! Part 2 - The IFMCA vs. The Oscars

    12/03/2023 Duration: 02h28min

That's right folks, the Oscars still suck! While they managed to bring back all of the categories they disrespected last year and will present them live again on this year's broadcast, the Academy's Music Branch, on the other hand, I think has clearly lost its mind. Not only are the nominees for best original score this year incredibly lacklustre, but they also took it one step further by nominating one of the most excruciating, annoying, utterly distracting film scores I've ever heard, ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT by Volker Bertelmann. Not since Hans Zimmer's DUNKIRK have I experienced a score so repulsive that I nearly walked out of the theatre because of the music. One of Bertelmann's first instructions from director Edward Berger was to "please do something that is destroying the pictures that is not, you know, underlining what we already see." And then there was further instruction to literally make the score sound as bad as possible by "want(ing) to have a snare drum that is played by somebody who ca

    22/02/2023 Duration: 01h21min

It's alive! The Cinematic Sound Radio Podcast Top 10 has been brought back from the dead! The last time I did a show like this was back in 2018 when I presented my Favourite Western Tracks Of All Time. I never thought about resurrecting the Top 10 show when I returned, however, I did have one last show planned out, which I found in a playlist in my digital music collection. That was in January and was planning to premiere this show on Valentine's Day but I lost my voice and couldn't record the show in time for the February 14th deadline. Eventually, my voice came back to me and I managed to get this one upload eight days after the Hallmark Holiday. So, welcome back to the Cinematic Sound Radio Podcast Top 10 and I'm looking for suggestions on other Top 10 shows. I'm clear out of ideas right now. Post them in the comments below or send an emial. In the program today, I'm going to play for you my Ten Fa
