That's right folks, the Oscars still suck! While they managed to bring back all of the categories they disrespected last year and will present them live again on this year's broadcast, the Academy's Music Branch, on the other hand, I think has clearly lost its mind. Not only are the nominees for best original score this year incredibly lacklustre, but they also took it one step further by nominating one of the most excruciating, annoying, utterly distracting film scores I've ever heard, ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT by Volker Bertelmann. Not since Hans Zimmer's DUNKIRK have I experienced a score so repulsive that I nearly walked out of the theatre because of the music. One of Bertelmann's first instructions from director Edward Berger was to "please do something that is destroying the pictures that is not, you know, underlining what we already see."
