Dr. Black is Chairman and Founder of Air Quality Sciences of Marietta, GA. AQS is one of the the most respected names in the indoor air quality industry and provides traditional and specialty IAQ services. They are world renowned for product emissions testing and Dr. Black pioneered the development of environmental chamber technology. Specialized environmental chambers are used to replicate actual indoor conditions enabling precise measurements of the pollutant emissions released from indoor products. The AQS Product Emissions laboratory is widely considered to be the most technologically advanced in the world and allows manufacturers to study and maximize the environmental safety of their products. This series of publications includes a treasure trove of information and tips based on real world research and application. The CMHC website has more free information on housing and building science issues than any site in the world and we will ask Jim to give us the highlights and insight into a specially selected sampling. Jim White is one of those people that we are thrilled to have join us on IAQ Radio. Mr. White was with the Canada Mortgage Housing Corporation for 20 years when CMHC was doing research and developing documents that are as valuable today as when they were developed. We need to pay attention to people like Jim to avoid repeating the mistakes of the past and some don't think we have paid enough attention. We will find out what Mr. White thinks this week on IAQ Radio!

What's new in the world of HVAC systems cleaning? Maybe more than you realize. There are a lot of interesting issues we plan to discuss this week. From the use of antimicrobials in HVAC systems to the latest on NADCA's Research about the energy benefits of cleaning HVAC systems. We will also discuss the future of NADCA's HVAC cleaning standards along with NADCA's positions on sanitizing, deodorizing and cleaning microbial contamination in HVAC systems. Our guests this week are John Shulte, NADCA Executive Director and Tim Hoysradt owner of Twins Environmental and NADCA Treasurer. All this and some other timely issues including the pending release of the RIA/IESO soot in HVAC standard this week on IAQ Radio.

Lisa Nagy, MD was recently interviewed for Nightline because her story is quite incredible, horrific and has a happy ending. She and her husband Wes lived in a home in California which caused she, the dog and Wes to become adrenally insufficient among many other problems that they developed. It was a toxic exposure that led to this, thyroid insufficiency in all of them (both dogs) and muscle weakness in Dr. Nagy and the dogs. One dog developed Myasthenia Gravis and Wes developed Pemphigus Foliaceus â?? both autoimmune diseases possibly induced by this exposure. It is from this personal experience that Dr. Nagy, who was trained in Emergency Medicine, has learned about Chemical Sensitivity and Environmental Medicine and hopes to educate the country about the condition that almost killed her and plagues, to some degree, at least 40% of the population.

Last week we discussed cleaning chemistry and science issues with Mike Kerner. This week Mike and the Z-man take it a step further to discuss the following issues: -What environmental or personal safety impact and do cleaning products have and what is being done to reduce that impact? -What is meant by green and how do we determine whether something is green? -What's the difference between materials that are naturally derived versus those that are synthetic? -What can we do to make cleaning products and processes safe? -Just how toxic are cleaning products? What is the proper use of a disinfectant? -What is meant by green washing? What would be an example of green washing? Join Mike Kerner and the Z-Man as they continue our discussion of cleaning products.

This week we begin a two part series on cleaning science issues. What is cleaning science? Is there a good body of evidence that helps us understand what works best? This week we tackle an issue that has escaped our radar for too long. Integrated Pest Management is one of the most important methods known for helping improve indoor environmental quality. When a home or building is crawling with little creatures not much else gets your attention. Then in some cases there can be an overreaction which creates even bigger problems. This week we discuss the correct way to deal with pests and we do so with two people that have an excellent track record under difficult circumstances. Mike Dicroce and Maria Moio are in charge of the Pittsburgh Public Schools IPM program and join us to discuss the ins and outs of Integrated Pest Management.

This week Radio Joe will interview the Z-Man about handling IEQ problems that may or may not have been caused by remediation projects. This show for contractors, consultants and consumers will help everyone avoid those sticky situations when a consumer feels the remedy was worse than the problem.

This week IAQ Radio welcomes Mr. Patrick MacRoy the Executive Director for the Alliance for Health Housing. Under Mr. MacRoy's leadership the Alliance has done some remarkable work including the development of a terrific guidance document for restoration of flood damaged homes following Hurricane Katrina. We will review this document and much more during this weeks show with Mr. MacRoy.

Alan Zelicoff is a physician (board certified in internal medicine 1992, clinical fellowship in rheumatology, 1983) and physicist (A.B., Princeton, 1975), who has had a varied career including clinical practice, teaching, and operations research. In the latter roles, he was Senior Scientist in the Center for National Security and Arms Control at Sandia National Laboratories from 1989 to 2003. Dr. Zelicoff's interests include risk and hazard analysis in hospital systems and office-based practice, and in technologies for improving the responsiveness of public health offices and countering biological weapons terrorism. Dr. Zelicoff has traveled extensively in countries of the former Soviet Union and has led joint research projects in epidemiology of infectious disease, while establishing Internet access at Russian and Kazak biological laboratories. He is the author of numerous text book chapters and articles in these subjects, and is a frequent contributor to Op-Ed pages in the Washington Post and other newspap
