Strengthening the Church to Impact the World

  • God Is Faithful | Pastor Ben Dixon

    01/06/2025 Duration: 35min

God doesn’t change. His words are true. He is completely and totally reliable in every way. While everything else around us changes, there is Someone who does not change. He does not lie, and we can build our lives on His Word, His plan, and His promises. It’s a sure deal! The writer of Hebrews said it this way, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever,” (Heb 13:8). This means that GOD is faithful! We can trust Him. What He says is true. What He said He will do, we know He will do. Moses spoke of how God was faithful to bring Israel through to the Promised Land (Dt 7). David said that the faithfulness of God “reaches to the skies,” (Ps 36:5). The prophets Isaiah and Jeremiah both spoke of how faithful God was to them and the nation of Israel. And in our text today, we’ll read several times where the Apostle Paul spoke of how faithful God was in it all and through it all.   Speaker: Pastor Ben Dixon Scripture: 2 Timothy 2:8-13 Series: Stand Alone For more information visit www.BenDixon.org

  • Exchange Your Anxiety for His Peace | Pastor Ben Dixon

    25/05/2025 Duration: 47min

Several modern statistics reveal that this could be the most anxious generation to ever exist. There are many reasons for why this may be the case, but we need to know that worry and anxiety are not just a modern struggle. In fact, Jesus speaks about worry, anxiety and peace many times and so do the other writers of the New Testament. All of this points to a very important truth: our mental health matters. Worry and anxiety have lots of contributing factors which we need to understand, but more than that, we need to understand the promise of Scripture that God will give us His peace in exchange for our anxiety. How do we make that exchange? Well, that is what the Apostle Paul talks about in our passage today! Speaker: Pastor Ben Dixon Scripture: Philippians 4:6-7 Series: Philippians: Joy From a Jail Cell Northwest Church - www.nwcfoursquare.org "On mission with Jesus to see the lost saved and disciples made."

  • Pressing in for Prodigals | Pastor Ben Dixon

    18/05/2025 Duration: 54min

Everyone has friends and family members who either walked away from Jesus or never fully surrendered their heart to Him even though they had opportunities to do so. This reality is heart wrenching and difficult for all of us, and I am sure that we would do anything we could to see our loved ones come back to Jesus. In our passage today, we can clearly see the heart of Christ to bring all people to Himself no matter where they come from or what they have done. As a church, we are taking a stand together to pursue our prodigals until all have returned to Christ!   Speaker: Pastor Ben Dixon Scripture: Luke 15:1-10 Series: Stand Alone Messages   For more information visit www.BenDixon.org

  • How to Manage Relational Conflict | Pastor Ben Dixon

    11/05/2025 Duration: 49min

In all human relationships, conflict will emerge at some point because each of us has the capacity to sin. Jesus taught that as Christians we seek to resolve conflict and pursue reconciliation. This is a testimony to who we are in Christ and to whom we allow to direct all of our thoughts and actions. In this passage, we see seven principles for what to do to resolve conflict and reconcile with others. • Who You Follow Will Shape Your Tomorrow | Pastor Ben Dixon

    27/04/2025 Duration: 48min

From the time we are born we are all impressionable. There are people we have looked up to whose words and ways have mattered more to us than anyone else. However, not every person in our life, even those we have cherished, is helping us to become who God has called us to be. As followers of Jesus we need to be intentional with who we look up to and listen to because the people that we follow have the greatest impact on who we become. In our passage today, the Apostle Paul gives us an encouragement, a warning and a reminder about the importance of followership in our lives.   Speaker: Pastor Ben Dixon Scripture: Philippians 3:17-21 Series: Philippians: Joy from a Jail Ceil   For more information visit www.BenDixon.org

  • The Resurrection Cover Up | Pastor Ben Dixon

    20/04/2025 Duration: 42min

Easter is the most important holiday for a Christian. It means our hope in Christ is not misplaced. Historically, people have attempted to cover-up the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. There are plenty of alternative historical narratives, but Jesus did die and there is evidence of his resurrection. • The Fruit of His Spirit | Pastor Chris Manginelli

    13/04/2025 Duration: 40min

In his letter to the Galatians, Paul writes to those who had been heavily influenced by Greek thought and culture. Yet Paul taught that as Christians, it is the character of Jesus that influences and transforms us into the likeness of Christ. As we hunger and thirst for God and grow in His purposes, we can be led by the Holy Spirit and receive true freedom.   Speaker: Pastor Chris Manginelli Scripture: Galatians 5:13-26 Series: Guest Speakers   For more information visit www.BenDixon.org

  • Does Our Faith Limit God's Power? | Pastor Ben Dixon

    06/04/2025 Duration: 41min

All of us want God to work powerfully in and through our lives. This is one of the primary reasons that we pray and seek to obey God’s Word. But the fact is, we don’t always see God do what we want or receive what we have asked Him for through our prayers. Have you ever wondered why? We all have! While we cannot answer “why” for every circumstance, I think it’s important to ask if our faith has something to do with it. Some people might say “your faith has nothing to do with God’s response to you!” Is that true? Is that really what the Bible teaches? Does our faith or lack of faith play a role in God responding to us? That is the question we will explore today by looking at two very important passages of Scripture. 23/03/2025 Duration: 44min

What is the most valuable thing that you have? I realize that is a loaded question which can go in many directions because we all have valuable things that we cherish, preserve and protect. But if you were to boil it down to THE most important thing what would that be? In our passage today, the Apostle Paul dives deep into explaining that our relationship with Jesus is worth everything and more valuable than anything.   Speaker: Pastor Ben Dixon Scripture: Philippians 3:1-11 Series: Philippians: Joy From a Jail Cell   For more information visit www.BenDixon.org

  • Every Christian is in Ministry | Pastor Ben Dixon

    16/03/2025 Duration: 42min

Have you ever heard someone say, “you should be in ministry!” When a comment like this is made it is almost always referring to someone being a pastor or church leader of some kind. Is that what ministry means? The simple answer is NO. The word ministry in the Christian context simply refers to someone serving others in the name of Jesus. That means that every Christian is in ministry and every Christian is a minister. Ministry is not what we do in the church, it’s what we do as the church. In our passage today, we will read about a few of the Apostle Paul’s friends that engaged in ministry by serving others well.   Speaker: Pastor Ben Dixon Scripture: Philippians 2:19-30 Series: Philippians: Joy From a Jail Cell   For more information visit www.BenDixon.org

  • How Bright Is Your Light | Pastor Ben Dixon

    09/03/2025 Duration: 44min

In the Bible, Jesus is described as the light of the world (John 8:12). But Jesus also taught that His followers would be the light in this world (Matthew 5:14-16). For Christians, this means that we are called to show the character of Jesus and share the words of Jesus which is in direct contrast to the backdrop of the world. If we are the light of Christ, then a good question might be – “How bright is your light?” Are you shining the love and life of Jesus or has your light grown dim? In our passage today, the Apostle Paul calls the church to shine bright in a dark world as he highlights a few things that have the power to determine the brightness of our light.   Speaker: Pastor Ben Dixon Scripture: Philippians 2:14-18 Series: Philippians: Joy From a Jail Cell   For more information visit www.BenDixon.org

  • Spiritual Growth Starts with God | Pastor Ben Dixon

    23/02/2025 Duration: 43min

When we become Christians, the Bible says that we are born again (John 3:3). This is more than just a good analogy, it means that we are immersed into a whole new life with a new heart, new mind, and a new nature (2 Corinthians 5:17). Although God has given us everything we need for life and godliness (2 Peter 1:3), we still have to grow into spiritual maturity. In theological terms, this process of spiritual growth is referred to as “sanctification.” As Christians we are growing in knowledge, grace, discernment, wisdom, love, and faith (2 Peter 3:18; 1 Peter 2:2; Ephesians 4:15; 2 Corinthians 10:15). Our growth in Christ will never end in this life, which means that wherever we are right now is not the end of the road because there is always more. In our passage today, the Apostle Paul encourages the church at Philippi by reminding them that our maturity in Christ starts with God but requires our participation as well.   Speaker: Pastor Ben Dixon Scripture: Philippians 2:12-13 Series: Stand Alone Series   Fo

In the world we live in, we as christians are called to live in a way the differs from the culture. Paul models characteristics that differ from past and present culture. • Moving from Selfish to Selfless | Pastor Ben Dixon

    09/02/2025 Duration: 48min

Do Christians struggle with being selfish? Of course we do! Even though Jesus has shown us the way of sacrificial love and selflessness, we can still be self-centered and self-focused if we allow ourselves to live by the flesh. If we are truly going to follow Jesus in the way that we live, it will require that we acknowledge selfish tendencies and make selfless choices in both the big and small things in our lives. In our passage today, Paul speaks about denying our internal selfish motives in order to choose a selfless way which is best seen in the life of Jesus Christ.   Speaker: Pastor Ben Dixon Scripture: Philippians 2:1-11 Series: Philippians: Joy From a Jail Cell   For more information visit www.BenDixon.org

  • Faithful Christians in a Faithless World | Pastor Ben Dixon

    02/02/2025 Duration: 49min

What does it mean to be a faithful Christian? What does that really look like in our world today? The Apostle Paul not only spoke about this specifically, but he embodied it by the way he lived. In the final verses of Philippians chapter 1, Paul exhorted the church to live consistently, unified and fearless, no matter what came against them. All these exhortations remain true for us today as we seek to follow Jesus faithfully.   Speaker: Pastor Ben Dixon Scripture: Philippians 1:27-30 Series: Philippians: Joy from a Jail Ceil   For more information visit www.BenDixon.org

    26/01/2025 Duration: 50min

How do we experience freedom from the power and weight of our problems? Our problems are heavy, but they do not have to consistently weigh us down. The apostle Paul walked through many tribulations, yet found joy and freedom in the midst of it. What did he have? what changed? In Christ we can experience more that what the world can give us but we must keep our eyes of Jesus. Speaker: Pastor Ben Dixon Scripture: Philippians 1:12-26 Series: Philippians: Joy From a Jail Cell   Northwest Church - www.nwcfoursquare.org "On mission with Jesus to see the lost saved and disciples made."

  • God Will Finish What He Started | Pastor Ben Dixon

    12/01/2025 Duration: 48min

It can be easy to feel like we aren’t growing, things aren’t changing, and God isn’t doing much in our lives. There are many reasons for why we feel this way, but a lot of it has to do with how we think. The problem we often have is that the process God uses for our development is not as fast or as clear as we would like it to be. But here is the truth: God is at work in our lives right now (Philippians 2:13) and we can be sure that He will finish what He started. In our passage today, we will be encouraged as the Apostle Paul shares his prayerful confidence with the church in Philippi that God is a finisher!   Speaker: Pastor Ben Dixon Scripture: Philippians 1:3-11 Series: Philippians: Joy From a Jail Cell   For more information visit www.BenDixon.org

Who was it written to? Do the answers to these questions help us understand and live out what is found in this text? Of course!
