Jesus knew he had work to do and a time to complete it. This purpose guided him. At the cross, his hour had finally come, his work was coming to completion, and he cried out, “I thirst.” This was the fifth of his seven sayings from the cross. What does it mean that Jesus, fully human and fully divine felt his thirst. Once again, he is fulfilling Psalm 22. How could the God who created the oceans, lakes, rivers and streams thirst? What had happened to him?  What does it mean for us?
