Howie Cook Surfers4Cetaceans:Saving Whales and Dolphins Part 1
09/07/2019 Duration: 13minByron Bay local and international whale and dolphin activist Howie Cook about talks about his history of campaigns which he and colleagues including world renowned surfer Dave Rastovich have been undertaking as part of @surfers4cetaceans since the early 2000's to try and stop the slaughter of whales and dolphins worldwide. This included protesting at the international whaling commission in Norway, working with the See Shepard crew and captain . From bringing attention to and instigating worldwide coverage of the killing coves' in Japan in 2008 to great projects like the 'Whale Icon' project where Australian local councils adopted'' whales that passed by their towns to the 'Vision Project which saw world of people send their own visual of themselves of photos to stand up for saving whales. Howie 'whale' tales are inspiring and uplifting. Journalist Michelle Michels thoroughly enjoyed sitting in Howie's garden in north Byron being entertained with cups of dandelion coffee whilst listening to Howie’s adventures

David Frappel discusses residents concerns re the Byron Bay Bypass road
14/05/2019 Duration: 11minA new bypass is proposed to run from the back areas wetland/swamp behind the main town area of beautiful Byron Bay, the NSW Coastal tourist mecca and major international holiday destination, into the south end of the town. The road has been in the planning process for over a decade. Byron Council is currently at the tender stage for the major road. Some Byron residents are not happy and say the development saying it will cut through wetlands and create other traffic problems in the area. David Frappel from the Butler Street Reserve communtiy group discusses these concerns.
