Synopsis
It was psychologist Abraham Maslow who said "A first-rate soup is more creative than a second-rate painting." That was the starting point for my blog and this podcast. More than ever the world of work is a heady mix of people, behaviour, events and challenges. When the blend is right it can be first-rate. Behavioural science has a lot to offer in terms of recipes and ingredients - welcome to People Soup.

Thanks for Asking
08/06/2021 Duration: 12minSeason 4 Episode 7Hi P-Soupers, thanks for tuning in – this week it’s another cup-a-soup called Thanks for Asking. I want to build upon last week’s episode - GETTING CURIOUS - where I suggested one way we could ask colleagues about their experience of work - so in this episode - I’m going to answer that very same question based upon my personal experience. My suggested conversation openers were:“I’m curious how you experience this workplace, would you be willing to share?”OR“What’s it like to be you in this workplace?”Shownotes at www.rossmcintosh.co.ukConnect with Ross and the ShowTwitter https://twitter.com/PeopleSoupPodhttps://twitter.com/RossMcCOACHInstagram https://www.instagram.com/people.soup/Facebook https://www.facebook.com/peoplesouppod/LinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/in/ross-mcintosh-261a2a22/Linktree - for links to many other podcast platforms and apps - linktr.ee/PeopleSoupAnd you can support the podcast by buying me a coffee! https://ko-fi.com/peoplesoup

Getting Curious
01/06/2021 Duration: 19minSeason 4 Episode 6P-Soupers – thanks for tuning in –this week it’s another cup a soup with me called 'Getting Curious' - I want to build upon last week’s episode - perspectacles - and really consider how we can get curious about how other people experience the workplace. As I said in perspectacles - we’re can’t hear each other’s internal soundtracks - we don’t know our colleagues work song - and I’m going to draw upon evidence from psychologist, Sarah Bonner and an organisation called Blueprint for All.Shownotes at www.rossmcintosh.co.ukThere are great resources at - www.blueprintforall.orgTwitter https://twitter.com/PeopleSoupPodhttps://twitter.com/RossMcCOACHInstagram https://www.instagram.com/people.soup/Facebook https://www.facebook.com/peoplesouppod/LinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/in/ross-mcintosh-261a2a22/Linktree - for links to many other podcast platforms and apps - linktr.ee/PeopleSoupAnd you can support the podcast by buying me a coffee! https://ko-fi.com/peoplesoup

Perspectacles
25/05/2021 Duration: 13minSeason 4 Episode 5P-Soupers, thanks for tuning in. This week it’s a cup-a-soup with me. I want to talk to you about perspective taking and how that relates to the world between our ears - if you could just try on these perspectacles please and read the bottom line of the chart....I’m going to be having a go at exercising my creativity - experimenting with ways to illustrate my point, which is, that we all live inside our heads - and often - we can assume other people are in their with us - think like us and really ‘get us’. In my work and life I constantly marvel that workplaces can function, relationships can happen and agreements can be made, because I reckon we can spend a lot of time just assuming that people are thinking just like us. And what’s going on in someone else’s head - can shape how they look at and experience the world and how they show up. And the same applies to us. I combine my thinking with a great exercise from a recent guest - Diana Hill.Shownotes at www.rossmcintosh.co.ukConnect with Ro

Reflections on the ACBS UK&ROI Conference 2020
09/12/2020 Duration: 35minSeason 3 Episode 37 it’s a special episode – with three mini interviews. Way back in November 2020 – was the Association for Contextual Behavioural Science UK & ROI conference – a two day extravaganza of research, practice, insights and connection. Inspired by my pal Joe Oliver – I sponsored 4 students of organisational psychology to attend. In this episode you’ll hear from three of them – on their impressions of the conference, their standout moment and their own research interests. It was truly insightful to hear the variety and depth of their reflections. For those of you who haven’t come across the podcast before – we aim to nourish your mind to flourish at work, using evidence based behavioural science. And we’d love it if you’d support us by subscribing, reviewing and sharing. For now – get a brew on and have a listen to Sangita Bhalla, Alexandra Lechner and one student who preferred not to be named on their perspectives of the conference.
