Ep046 - One Solution to Dealing with Toxic Environments
07/11/2017 Duration: 22minHave you experienced the stress and struggle of living or working in a toxic environment? It's tough, isn't it? For a variety of reasons you stay in that situation, even when you know it is time to end that personal or professional relationship. Many of us have done it. I've done it. For me, there were two main reasons why I stayed in what I considered a toxic work environment. The first reason I stayed was people focused: I knew I was serving the needs of my team. I knew I was making the workplace better for them. I knew I was resolving process problems that could impact the quality of our product. And when you make a product that peoples' lives literally depend upon, that last factor is key. The second reason I stayed was money focused: I had a goal to pay off my mortgage by October 2018. I was making aggressive extra principle payments. My 15-year mortgage would be paid off in just over 8 years if I stayed on track. But finally, $15,000 shy of paying off my mortgage, the imaginary toxicity detector I wore

Ep044 - Common Excuses for Not Pursuing Your Dreams

You sit in your cozy chair, pull a soft, warm blanket over you, and just imagine… You imagine what your life would look like… how you would feel… how you would act in this dream setting. You sit. And you sit. And you sit. Two weeks later, you are still sitting. Seven months later, you are still dreaming from your comfortable, protected place in the world. And a decade later, you barely recall the excitement you felt when envisioning that life for yourself. In this week’s episode of Reflections of a Recovering Ugly Duckling, I share four common excuses I’ve made for not pursuing my dreams. If any of these resonate with you, you might be selling your opportunity to achieve a feeling of purposeful achievement short. www.donnadoyon.com The music is Drifting Upstream by Hyson. It is a 10-Day program to help people start adding one healthier habit to their daily routine. (To learn more or participate in this free program... visit http://www.donnadoyon.com/habits I had many doubts and fears about launching this program. The greatest fear was based on my insecurity about my own ability to attract people to attend. I was afraid I'd create this program (which I think is wonderful), but no one would participate. Those doubts and fears tried their darnedest to keep me in my safe little bubble of dreams, protected from the possible cruelty of reality. In this week's episode of Reflections of a Recovering Ugly Duckling, I share what I learned during this roller coaster ride of emotional turmoil, demands upon my time, and dealing with tricky technology. My head was spinning, my stomach was lurching, and my fists were clenched in terror. One thin
