    31/05/2022 Duration: 45min

How are the 2022 changes in developmental milestones and TikTok related? In the normalizing of pathology! It's now ok if kids don't walk or talk until later and don't crawl at all. On TikTok, kids with certain conditions are developing tremendous followings, and other kids are imitating them, creating what is known as a mass sociogenic illness.

  • Episode 458: Extra something

    24/05/2022 Duration: 18min

What is your 'extra something'? BJ Palmer coined the phrase, 'the adjustment with that extra something', but I think this applies to more than just the adjustment. It is the ultimate Life Lesson: how can your life be expressed with that 'extra something'?

  • Episode 454: Screening all kids for anxiety?

    26/04/2022 Duration: 17min

New research shows that 8-9.5% of kids between the ages of 8-18 have anxiety and now a US Task Force recommends anxiety screening for all kids! How about recommending chiropractic screening for all kids that includes checking them NOT just for posture and scoliosis but assessing them from a functional neurological perspective!

  • Episode 453: The person missing 1/3rd of their left brain

    19/04/2022 Duration: 14min

Can you grow without part of your brain? A recent article in Wired Magazine (see link below) discusses someone born without a temporal lobe, that is very much associated with speech...but this person has great vocabulary! How did that happen? Because parts of their brain took over for the missing parts! That's the amazing power of neuroplasticity! https://www.wired.com/story/she-was-missing-a-chunk-of-her-brain-it-didnt-matter/

  • Episode 452: The Stephen Porges Interview, Part 2: Polyvagal Theory & Chiropractic

    12/04/2022 Duration: 21min

The Polyvagal Theory has such profound implications in chiropractic, especially in pediatrics. This must-listen interview with Dr. Stephen Porges will inspire you to look at chiropractic and taking care of the kiddos under your care in a whole different way. Part 1 was introduced last week (Episode 451). For the entire seminar, check it out here: https://bit.ly/34X5MOk

    29/03/2022 Duration: 29min

    15/03/2022 Duration: 11min

Neanderthals & Chiropractic? A recent article (see below) discussed why modern humans have back pain...essentially because of poor posture due to societies change towards more sedentary occupations and lifestyles. And when do these lifestyles start? During childhood, with kids glued to their phones and iPads. That's where chiropractic fits in! See article: https://academic.oup.com/pnasnexus/article/1/1/pgab005/6540637?login=false

  • Episode 447: Ever hear about a mass sociogenic illness?

    08/03/2022 Duration: 15min

Mass sociogenic illness? Never heard of it until I read an article in the Atlantic Magazine last week (see below for link). It relates the concept of a functional Tourette's Syndrome-like issue that occurs when young people watch YouTube or TikTok videos of people with Tourette's and, in a way, begin to imitate them. The relevance: they define a Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) differently than Brain-based chiropractors do...but we work on these 'disconnected kids' by reconnecting them to their brains and nerve systems! https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2022/02/social-media-illness-teen-girls/622916/

  • Episode 446: CDC changes developmental milestones???

    01/03/2022 Duration: 13min

Why change milestones? Eliminate crawling as a milestone? Add 3 months to milestone of talking and 6 months to the milestone of walking??? I thought that the definition of milestone is "a stone set up beside a road to mark the distance in miles to a particular place." You can't change a mile marker like that! If it is a mile from one place to another, that DOES NOT CHANGE!

  • Episode 445: Building safety and trust

    22/02/2022 Duration: 12min

No greater way to build safety and trust in your practice members than to focus on what is called patient-centered exams and adjustments. That means going at their speed, performing examination procedures that they are ok with, doing adjustments that their nerve system tells you they are ready for. Not doing what we want to do, but doing what they are capable of handling at that moment. This is called being Polyvagally-informed. Check out Dr Rubin's seminar with Dr. Porges (founder of the Polyvagal Theory) on Saturday, 4/2/2022 at this link: https://bit.ly/34X5MOk

    15/02/2022 Duration: 25min

Want to see neuroplasticity in action in neuro-divergent, special needs kids? In pregnancy? Then investigate tonal techniques such as Network Spinal Analysis (NSA). How NSA works so effectively, specifically in kids with Autism and ADHD, and how impressive it works with pregnant mommas, can be understood by looking at it from a brain-based perspective.

  • Episode 443: How Jeanne Ohm explained chiropractic

    08/02/2022 Duration: 13min

Dr. Jeanne Ohm was a legend, an icon, a once-in-a-generation leader who passed away in 2019. Pathways to Family Wellness Magazine, the amazing healthy parenting magazine that she helped create, recently released a tribute issue to her that contained articles that Dr. Jeanne wrote over the years. She explained chiropractic so purely, so simply, so elegantly, that reading her words in this latest Pathways brought tears to my eyes. We miss you Jeanne!

  • Episode 441: The difference between 'what will you do' vs 'what DO you do!"

    25/01/2022 Duration: 19min

'What will you do' means what you can do, might do, want to do, dream about doing. The key, however, is DID you do it? If you have 'that something' in your head and your heart then it can translate through your hands and into that pregnant momma or newborn or child on the spectrum, and you can help transform their lives. "I will" is predicated on finding "that something."
