Papa Time

This episode is a special episode in honor of Mother's Day which is coming up this Sunday! Since you have been able to hear Violet in the background of so many of the recent podcasts, we thought we'd give you an audio glimpse of what it's like when we try to remove her from the studio prior to recording each podcast. In this episode, Papa tries to put the fear of big, hungry snakes into Trux. I don't think he was successful. They also discuss days spent exploring outdoors, angry bearded dragons, and preferences regarding fish. We're so very grateful this week - for God's hand of protection and healing on our precious Aunt Amber, and we're so thankful for a brand new baby boy in our extended family. We're thankful for a great library in our little town, too. It's probably time to share Kinsley's favorite book about cryptids, which is Tales of the Cryptids. It's safe to say that Plutarch's Lives is not one of Kinsley's favorites, but she and Sophie are both good sports about wading through it anyway. Haliburton's Complete Book of Marvels was not an inexpensive book, but it has been a huge hit in our house, and therefore was a very worthwhile purchase for our family library. In case you wonder about the talk of beating one's pate with a good stout cudgel - we have been reading The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood together. It has been a surprisingly big hit amongst the children. Other books mentioned in this episode: The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling - Uncle Zion gave the family a copy of this book illustrated by Robert Ingpen. Ingpen's illustrations are absolutely some of the best we've ever had in a family read aloud. We're huge fans.  The TinTin Series by Herge (An absolute must have!) Music by www.bensound.com

Oops, we meant to get this out last Thursday but life got the better of us. Please excuse the fidgeting and the fussing in the background. Violet gets jealous of the Papa Times that her siblings are having.   We hope you enjoy this (late) conversation with Miss Gillian!   Gillian has gotten pretty adept at reading just recently. Her friend Evy likes baths, so Violet always volunteers her good buddy to take a bath instead.    We have tried to influence her through literature, and her most recent favorite book is helping us make a bit of headway. Tonight Papa is chatting with Sophie.  You may notice that several of our kids have asked a "Would You Rather" question. These are generally inspired by a card game that we keep in the car. It provides endless entertainment for road trips of any length along with lots of very silly conversation.
