On this week...IT'S ALL ABOUT THE LADIES! As it was International Women's Day yesterday, I thought it was only proper to show some love to a few of the greatest female Kpop groups/artists in the game. Almost 2 hours of greatness from the likes of Red Velvet, S.E.S., Blackpink, SNSD, & much much more. On this week...Like I said, I have been craving something different and this episode is a culmination of that feeling. We have a mixture of rock/indie/jazz-funk/electronic stuff I've been collecting for a while and just haven't been able to place it anywhere. One this week..A lot of new stuff has come out that I've really been enjoying. J-Hope of BTS finally released his EP, "Hope World," a man it did not disappoint. On this week...I felt in a rut musically and was really craving some new sounds, so this episode is a reflection of that. We start off with a new track from Dj/Producer Peggy Gou, "Han Jan." Amazing stuff. She has been really killing it as of late and it's so great to see. I definitely want to play a lot more of her work. Also threw in some more funky and electronic vibes. That new Hash Swan release, "Alexandrite," is absolutely amazing. Hash Swan's rhyming style is so unique. He effortlessly rides a beat at his own pace and doesn't give a fuck where it goes...he just does his own thing, which is so refreshing. If you get a chance, go get the full album. On this week...We have a true mix of different songs, artists, and sounds. I felt this one was all over the place but ends up working together. A bit of new, a bit of old. On This Week...We've got a Hip-Hop heavy episode with a bit of groovy RnB vibes sprinkled in at the end. I've been coming across some great stuff on Soundcloud lately and there has been a few gem releases coming out in a relatively slow period. I threw in that new NCT U song, "Boss," and I think it's good stuff. It isn't as amazing as "The 7th Sense," but damn near close. I am still excited for their comeback as a full 18-member group and if it is as good as I hope it is we'll be hearing it a bit on here and BSKP. Next week I'll look to switch up the sounds a bit. One this week...We have a live version episode! I found some of my favorite alternate live versions of great songs, ranging from acoustic, acapella, or live concert version. There is something magical about the live musical performance. It removes the filter of production work and allows us to experience the artist in all their raw talent and even flaws. On this week... It's a special Valentine's Day Episode! Well...I simply tried to pick songs that tackle the issue of "Love" in different ways. I wanted to get a full spectrum of emotions felt by people on this day. While some of us may be madly in love, others are left sad and lonely. Welcome to KME's new show, B-Side K-Pop! A radio show featuring your favorite Kpop groups and artists but with more of a focus on going deeper into the Kpop catalog. I want to give love and bring to light those great B-sides on the single releases and those other songs on the album. However, we'll still be playing great tracks that are hot at the moment. This week is all about some new hop hop joints I've been rocking to lately. OF COURSE I had to start it off with that new Sik-K, "YeLoWs Gang" feat. Herr Nayne and Woodie Gochild. Sik-K did some amazing things last year and is already carrying that momentum into this year. I expect to see some really dope shit from him and H1GHR Music. 2017 was an amazing year in Kmusic. So many great releases, so many new sounds. However, it was a sad year also, as we lost some of our favorites groups to disbandment and lost the amazingly talented Kim Jonghyun. But they will always live on through their music and the good times they have given us, for now and for the future. This mix compiles some of my favorite tracks that came out this year. It is not meant to be comprehensive nor objective because there were so many amazing albums and songs put out this year. It would be impossible to include them all. I would like to thank all the listeners out there enjoying the show. This year was interesting, tough, and fun.
