The songs we sing during Sunday morning worship often focus on how beautiful the name of Jesus is. So, what is God trying to communicate to us about himself through this precious name? This Sunday we’re going to explore that name, and explore the word salvation, and find out all the richness that God wants for us. I think you’ll find that this is one of the most exciting, challenging, comforting, encouraging, and uplifting words that we have in the Bible. Join us for this message as we dig into this gold mine and see what all God has for us in it.

We left off with Nehemiah working on the wall. He’s convinced the people that this is the will of God, and the people have brought their attention and focus on building this wall. Suddenly, the work comes to a standstill. Nehemiah stops all work on the wall. The question is why? Let’s talk about what could be so important that it would cause Nehemiah to call all work to a halt.

Nehemiah set out to build the wall, and he calculated the cost. But I don’t think Nehemiah realized that he was going to run into opposition, and, he ran into quite a bit of resistance. Nehemiah had opposition from within and opposition from without. He had to battle the entire time he worked on building the wall. The miracle of the building of the wall of Jerusalem was not that Nehemiah completed the task in less than three months. The miracle was that he did it in the face of tremendous opposition, such opposition that the men had to lay bricks with one hand while they held their sword in the other. Join us as we talk about what it means to build in the face of resistance.

Our first study in Nehemiah centers around the principle of repentance as a foundation for restoration and renewal. Nehemiah saw right away that the process of rebuilding needed to begin with his personal repentance as well as the corporate repentance of the nation. While repentance is a serious topic to study, I think there are practical life principles that will benefit us as we apply them in our lives.

We believe that God can and does answer huge prayers. In this message, we are going to talk about how to pray in the name of Jesus Christ. We’re going to continue our study of Judges, chapter 13, and see how he has called us to pray for what’s considered impossible.

It’s been 40 years since my wife Kim and I came to Tab Church as newlyweds. Right away we were mentored by a man named Al Vale. One of the first things Al stressed was the concept that prayer was an essential part of our spiritual lives. As we continue our series, “Going Small to Get Big, it’s a blessing to be able to talk about prayer as something that can have a significant impact on our spiritual lives. Join us as we look at Judges 13 to learn about prayer, what to pray about, and how to pray in a way that honors and glorifies God.

Controlling what we think will make a big difference in our spiritual life. Proverbs 23 says, “As a man thinks so is he.” Martin Luther said, “You cannot keep birds from flying over your head, but you can keep them from building a nest in your hair.” God already knows what we think about, even if no one else does. And he desires that we capture our thoughts, monitor them, filter them, and make sure that our thinking is in line with the way He thinks. Join us as we continue our sermon series “Going Small to Get Big.”

James 3 tells us that our words can create a massive difference in the life of a person and the life of a community. Our words can build a people up, but they can also bring them down and destroy them. Join us for this message as we discuss how to use our words to bless, benefit, and to build up others this coming year.

Little changes in how we study God’s Word, how we speak with others, how we think, and how we pray will pay huge dividends in your life. And if we as a church do this, it will make a significant difference in the life of the church. People will grow, people will come to know God, and God will be glorified. We’re getting ready to step into 2019; we’re getting ready to step into the unknown. But before we do that, we have one last Sunday to ready ourselves. So how do we do that? How do we prepare ourselves for the coming year? Join us for this teaching as we talk about what it means to step into the unknown, trusting God with great anticipation.

One word that appears over and over again in Luke 2, the Christmas passage, is “glory.” The shepherds see a vast host of angels giving glory to God at the birth of Jesus. In this message, we will prepare for Christmas by thinking about what glory means and how we can glorify God in our lives.

In this message, we’re going to be talking about Matthew 7:12-15. In this passage, Jesus encourages his disciples to “do to others what you would have them do to you.” Although we don’t find the term in Scripture, we often call this “The Golden Rule.” As we dive into this passage, we’ll see that Jesus uses the love of the Father as an example that you and I should follow as we seek to pursue the Golden Rule.

Recently I went to the eye doctor because I was experiencing small specks in my eyes that blurred my vision. Well, it turns out that I’m just getting old. But the experience reminds me very much of what Jesus said to the Pharisees. He asked them, “Why is it that you look at the specs in other people’s eyes and do not see the log that is in your eye?” This question goes directly to an issue that Jesus spoke about on the sermon on the mount. In this message we look at the issue of judging as we continue our series on The Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 7.

Every good parent teaches their children how to save money. But not every good parent teaches their children how to be rich. This Sunday, we will look at Matthew 6:19-34 where Jesus teaches us how not to be rich, not just for this lifetime, but for all eternity.
