  • Two Ways of Life

Matthew 6: 1-34 When we read scripture, we are presented with a collection of stories of people from all sorts of different time periods, economic/ class groups, ethnicities, and life situations. These different stories serve as mirrors to reflect ourselves in the stories. The natural tendency is to relate to some characters and not others, but actually, scripture wants us to see that life boils down to two ways to live: control or faith. We will see how a desire to be in control manifests in a variety of ways but always roots itself in the tree of knowledge of good an evil. God offers us the life of faith as an alternative to being in control. When we live in faith we become carefree because we are in the Father’s love.

Where is the power? Could this be the result of living Christianity in their own strength? Fortunately, God has provided a solution. Those who are filled with the Spirit will tap into the power needed to live the life the true believer desires to live.
