It was inevitable: taking two of reality TV's most popular subgenres -- gold and ghosts -- and mashing them together into Syfy'sGhost Mine, which premieres this Wednesday at 10pE/P. In the woods of eastern Oregon lies the rich Crescent Mine, which was shut down 80 years ago by tragedy and superstition. Current owner Larry Overman, a Texas oilman with no mining experience, was determined to reopen the mine. But the first crew of miners he brought in was scared off and he was running out of time and money. In comes a new crew lead by grizzled veteran Stan "Papa Smurf" Griffith. This strong-willed and superstitious group of miners will face the day-to-day challenges of mining, aided by the paranormal investigators who unravel the mysteries surrounding the mine, including historic Masonic connections and a spirit who has been known to haunt the area for generations.
