Eight lives have been lost so far as South East Queensland copped a "rain bomb" over the weekend in a disastrous weather event. Tens of thousands are without power, more than 18,000 homes have been flooded, and hundreds have been rescued from dangerous waters. NSW has been battered too - with an evacuation warning for the entire Northern Rivers region. Floodwaters in Lismore hit record levels.
