Russell Simmons co-founded Def Jam Recordings in 1984, creating the foundation for the musical and cultural revolution known as hip hop. He went on to form the Rush Communications empire, which included a clothing company, film and television production, a management company, a magazine and an advertising agency. Not satisfied by being an entertainment legend and a business mogul, he took up yoga and meditation, studied spiritual literature, and became a public advocate for practical spirituality. A tireless philanthropist and social activist, he became a dedicated vegan and recently added The Happy Vegan to his stable of bestsellers, which includes Do You!
