In the first segment we talk with Daniel Kay Hertz about his book "The Battle of Lincoln Park: Urban Renewal and Gentrification in Chicago", which looks at the history of an iconic Chicago neighborhood. We talk about its buildup during Urban Renewal (where large swathes of land were taken by municipalities (around the country) under imminent domain) and how this community became a prime destination for new renters, and the politics that cost many of them their homes.
