Synopsis
Host (Imam) Tariq talks about some of the divisive responses to the prayer from guidance he offered at the historic inauguration of Lori Lightfoot, Anna Valencia, and Melissa Conyears-Ervin which means that for the first time in Chicago's history 3 women of color occupy those potions at the same time--and the first time an African American Woman has been Mayor of the nations third largest city. Tariq shares the prayer he delivered and then talks about some of the positive and negative (Islamophobic) responses posted on line regarding it, and more importantly talks about the need for us to see our connections regardless of our differences. Tariq makes the point that diversity doesn't have to mean disconnected-- and refers to Mayor Lightfoot's speech, where she quotes Gwendolyn Brooks, "We are each others business."
