Dianna started flying in a J-3 Cub at six weeks old, flying with her airline pilot father. She learned to fly as a teenager with her father as her CFI, and soloed before she got her driver's license. Mark started flying as a teenager and paid for his lessons working at the Golden Corral. Both Mark and Dianna attended Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and entered the Air Force after graduation.
