Synopsis
This week we are excited to be giving you a brand new episode of the podcast which focuses on parent advocacy for adapted physical education (APE). In this episode we were joined by Rocco Aiello, an APE coordinator and author of the book Sports, Fitness, and Motor Activities for Children with Disabilities A Comprehensive Resource Guide for Parents and Educators; Sherry St. Clair, a parent of a person with a disability; and Dr. Garth Tymeson, a professor at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. In this episode we discussed why parents should advocate for APE services for their students with disabilities, how to effectively communicate to the IEP team, and where to find information on how to receive APE services on your IEP.
