Royal College Of Surgeons Podcasts

In 2015, almost 60 years of conventional medical practice was legally challenged in a landmark case regarding consent to treatment. The College has developed a series of three podcasts exploring the legal, ethical and practical implications of the Montgomery judgement, and discussing the new guidance on Consent: Supported Decision-Making, produced by the College. Our first podcast considered the legal context of the Montgomery ruling. This episode discusses the benefits of this change beyond the law, and explores some of the ethical challenges of the judgement for surgeons.
