Dealing with Temptation Today's Passage comes from Luke 4:1-13 What is Temptation? Temptations are hurdles that try and trip up our relationship with God. Most Temptations are born out of our fallen human nature. How Does Temptation Work? It hits us *where* we are weakest. It hits us *when* we are weakest. It hits us *with whom* we are weakest. How Was Jesus Tempted? He was hungry; therefore, Satan tempted him first where he was weakest. Jesus was poor; therefore, Satan tempted him with power. Jesus was exhausted, therefore Satan tested him by questioning his deity. How Jesus Resisted Temptation Jesus was filled with the Holy Spirit before he went into the desert. The Holy Spirit led Jesus into the desert. Jesus quoted Scripture all three times. How do We Resist Temptation? 1- Stay Filled with the Holy Spirit. 2- We stay Filled with the Word of God. 3- Do not place yourself in a compromising situation. Get more resources at RiversChurch.org!
