In this interview, Susanna Lancaster, author of The Growing Rock, shares her origin story and discusses how to get a book deal. Susanna Lancaster grew up as a shy, nerdy kid who loved to read and write. With two librarians as parents, the love for reading and writing was an integral part of her family culture. Through high school and college, she continued to write and decided to major in creative writing. Her teachers encouraged her to develop her writing. After college, she took a year off and looked for a graduate program. She decided she wanted to focus on writing books for children and found a program at Lesley University that perfectly matched what she was looking for.
