Carlos Angel, Former General Manager of Uber, shares his story of building Uber Colombia to a billion dollar business in 3 years. Carlos grew up in Columbia, the oldest of 3. His parents were entrepreneurs so he spent most of his time with his younger sisters. His family have all been entrepreneurs for the last 5 generations. To come to Columbia from Spain, you had to have some of the entrepreneurial spirit to make a new life. In his family, the “traditional path” was the abnormal choice. At 18, he began traveling. He studied in Australia for 4 years. It was a difficult transition to go from being in a town where he was surrounded by his extended family and spent every weekend with them to being in a different country and not having any family. It opened his eyes and helped him to see life from a different perspective.
