The third installment in a series in which I read Julius Braunthal's 1961 book, History of the International, 1864-1914. In this episode, I finish chapter four, "The Conspiracy of the Equals", picking up where we left off with Babeuf's attempt to save the French Revolution from self-destruction, and read chapter five, "The Counter-Revolutionary International", concerning the efforts of the ruling classes of Europe to snuff out the revolution as it spread across the continent.
