Phil Johnson has always been the guy who isn’t quite what people expect. I guess that can be expected of a guest of Uncontained. Phil started out as a musician and stumbled on to comedy. It all started when some friends heard his song ‘Whale Blubber’ and could not get it out of their heads. Since then Phil has continued to evolve as a comedian adding stand-up to his musical comedy. His unique brand of music and comedy has taken him to festivals such as the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and Sundance Film Festival and he was in the Top 8 of the Finals of the The World Series of Comedy. You also may not have expected that he has his own guitar course ‘Less is More Guitar’ where he breaks down the process of learning guitar by focusing on what skills he uses every time he plays. Another unexpected thing about Phil is that he is the host of a podcast—No, not about comedy or music, but pirates. Yes, pirates. His podcast is called Under the Crossbones, where he gives his listeners a behind the eye-patch look into
