Synopsis

In this week of the Nonprofit Innovator Podcast we cover three stories:#1: A Santa Fe-based nonprofit focused on children’s media, and a software startup in the city, have launched a commercial-free online video-streaming channel with kid-friendly programs by filmmakers worldwide.#2: New Google tools fight fake news. Last week, Google announced a tool that helps news organizations tag credible stories so that Google News can more easily feature them. Another new tool offers journalists a database of all stories with that tag so that they can find those verified sources.#3: An AI-based network of cameras is used to spot poachers in Africa to prevent them from killing endangered elephants. Called Trailguard AI, the system places a series of digital cameras at chokepoints - places where natural bottlenecks occur for poachers on their way to elephant herds.
