This week we bring you three stories on social innovation:#1) Nonprofit partners with local startup to make 3D printed homes a reality. The Austin, TX-based startup Icon recently shared a prototype tiny home built in partnership with a local nonprofit called New Story. #2) The Nature Conservancy developed a fish sampling technology solution with a Swedish company called Refind Technologies. The goal is to monitor for over-fishing and prevent depletion of the fish population in Indonesia. Nature Conservancy used to take pictures on a selected subset of boats fishing off the coast of Indonesia. #3) Machine learning is being used to identify and track fishing boats off the coast of countries like Namibia. The international nonprofit Global Fishing Watch’s mission is to monitor, expose, and prevent illegal commercial fishing.
