Today marks the beginning of the 40 day period of Lent with its call to repentance, self-denial, prayer, fasting, study, and self-examination. But many Christians today do not understand the function of repentance because they do not understand the power of Sin. Understanding the two makes all the difference in the world between believing the gospel of Jesus Christ or believing the gospel of self-esteem and self-help.
