Synopsis
Palm Sunday. What a strange day! We start off with a celebration and end with a catastrophe. Most of us would like to avoid the catastrophic part of the story but the ancient liturgical wisdom of the Church will not let us do that. To get to Easter Sunday we must go to the foot of the cross on Good Friday and reflect on its meaning because here we see God rescuing us from our slavery to Sin and Death. So what does that look like for us today who live in a world gone increasingly mad? Check out what Father Maney has to say about it all and then be ready to contemplate the love of God poured out for you on the cross and give your life to him in willing, humble obedience, despite the uncertainties and darkness of life. Lectionary texts for the liturgy of the Palms are Mark 11.1-11; Psalm 118.1-2, 19-29. Lectionary texts for the liturgy of the Word are Isaiah 50.4-9a; Psalm 31.9-16; Philippians 2.5-11. The Passion narrative is from Mark 14.1-15.47.
