Matthew 5:21-30 Jesus stated in the Sermon on the Mount that he was the fulfillment of the Law. Jesus will devote much of his sermon to exposing the faulty principles of the scribes and Pharisees. We will see Jesus use the phrase: “You have heard that the ancients were told,” or “You have heard it was said.” He will say this to introduce six different corrective illustrations that expose the false righteousness found in the religious leaders. In this message, Jesus will focus on two sin issues of the heart - murder and lust. Jesus will show that true righteousness is a matter of the heart.
