Sonny Boy, one of the most successful theme songs ever written, introduced the "talkie" picture to Ireland. It was sung by Al Jolson in The Singing Fool, the film has screened at the opening of the Capitol Cinema in 1929. But, it wasn't until 1936 that Tom Cooper produced the first really genuine native production, The Dawn.
