Synopsis
To mark Challenge Poverty Week 2013 (13-19 October), Iriss hosted a roundtable discussion on the subject of welfare reform. The motion was: "The effects of welfare reform on practice and practitioners: How can we continue to deliver positive services?" The discussion was chaired by Fiona McHardy, Community Research Officer at Poverty Alliance. The seven participants included: Jackie Barton from the Direct Access Accommodation Service at Aspire Scotland; Lorraine McGrath, Chief Executive of Glasgow Simon Community; Barrie Levine, Lecturer in Social Work at Glasgow Caledonian University; Chris White from the Scottish Mental Health User Research Network; Isobel Kelly (Team Manager, Money Matters), at North Ayrshire Council; Lesley Sharkey, Service Leader at C-Change; and Andrew MacDonald (Planning and Development Manager) at East Ayrshire Council.
