Lee led the telescope technology development and led the telescope from architecture trades and design activities to manufacturing through integration and testing. He was also a member of the optics team that determined the optical prescription to correct the Hubble Space Telescope and performed independent testing of the mirrors that corrected Hubble. The James Webb Space Telescope (sometimes called JWST or Webb) is an orbiting infrared observatory that will complement and extend the discoveries of the Hubble Space Telescope, with longer wavelength coverage and greatly improved sensitivity.
