As a teenager, I found myself constantly defending my beliefs around my family and other adults and wondering why it was so hard for people around me to see that i had different ways of seeing life outside of such traditional views. I left home after a few attempts at 19, removed all of the garments that I had to wear (hijab and abaya), and moved on campus for college. I lived the college lifestyle all in but soon realizing that world didn't have it right either. It was being given all of the freedom I could desire that I realized that my anxiety, depression, and toxic beliefs still continued.
