Originally from the Philippines, Mama Gayzha had lived in Naarm for several years and was widely recognised for founding the Miss Gay and Miss Trans International Australia pageants, which she began hosting in the 2010s.Mama Amao, our beloved trans elder and leader, reached out to Sasja right after hearing about Mama Gayzha’s passing, expressing her wish to support the community during this difficult time. The Trans-creator Invasion of Queering the Air
20/10/2024On this episode of 3CR’s Queering the Air, we had a discussion with TGDNB folks about their experience of creating as part of a group and a community. Madison Moffat interviewed TransCreatives Alex, Arlo and Naavikaran on the joys of communal writing, having one’s work published in a community zine, and celebrating those results at (a still fairly recent) launch event. Through the use of writing prompts, The TransCreatives (TC) trick themselves and each other once a month into realising that we all have the ability of self-expression. Through The Trans-creator (T-c), that work is published with the minimum of editing, sharing with TGDNB readers the immediacy of that work and its subject matter. On August 2nd, The Trans-creator was launched. Two of our guests presented their work at that launch. A third guest was part of the audience, which inspired them to participate in the next monthly writing session. The show focused on their work and experiences throughout their TC/T-c process; as always, in their words.
