  • Podcast For Prospects

    04/01/2021 Duration: 04min

We have started a new podcast series called The Managing Partners Podcast. It consists of Erik or Kevin interviewing managing partners of law firms about their business and how they're growing it. There are three major benefits to interviewing lawyers about their business. We learn more about their industry and how they operate. This is important since we work with lawyers and always want to stay on the forefront of how their business operates. There's potential they might need our services. It's a great way to start that conversation in case they do. It gets us exposure. We typically ask for referrals for other lawyer friends that might want to be on the podcast and often receive them. The repeated exposure is good for setting us up experts in their industry. Think about how you can use a podcast or a livestream to talk to your ideal prospects. — Erik J. Olson is an award-winning digital marketer & entrepreneur. The Founder & CEO of Array Digital, he is also the host of the Journey to $100 Mil

  • Customize Your Content For Every Individual Platform

    03/01/2021 Duration: 05min

We have had this podcast for two years, but it took us a long time to figure out we could re-use the content from it in a variety of ways. For instance, we realized we could start recording ourselves on video while we record the audio since we stand in front of a microphone when we talk. It then took us a while longer to realize we could chop up that video to create a bunch of micro-content in the form of still shots and short video clips with captions. Most recently we realized we weren't using the full video anywhere so we just started uploading those to Youtube. If you're putting out content it's just smart to use and re-use your content in a variety of ways. When you do that it's important to customize your content for the platforms you'll use it on. Examples are creating short intro and/or outro videos and audio to give a more polished look. But you shouldn't let an unfinished product stop you from putting it out there for others. It's more important to start and polish as you go along. — Eri

  • $1M in 1 Year

    02/01/2021 Duration: 02min

Erik and Kevin recently started a new niche digital marketing agency in September. As of now that agency has one client and two employees. They have big goals for that agency. One of them is to get to $1 million dollars of recurring revenue per year, in the first year. In order to do that they will have to secure just over $83,000 per month in recurring revenue. It's a big goal, but when it comes to goals you should set them high. Setting big goals makes you work harder to achieve them, and even if you don't, you'll be that much closer than before you started. Think about your goals and how you can set them higher. — Erik J. Olson is an award-winning digital marketer & entrepreneur. The Founder & CEO of Array Digital, he is also the host of the Journey to $100 Million Flash Briefing and daily podcast, and the organizer of the Marketers Anonymous monthly meetups. — Kevin Daisey is an award-winning digital marketer & entrepreneur. • 2021 New Years Resolutions

    01/01/2021 Duration: 07min

It's the start of 2021 and time for people to set New Years Resolutions. Erik got serious about resolutions in 2019. He set out a goal to run 1,000 miles that year and he did it. For 2020 he set a goal to compete in a half Ironman and he did that. He also set some business goals that weren't quite accomplished, but we got that much closer to achieving them. The trick to setting good goals for the year is to make a plan for them. It's easy to lose sight of a goal if it isn't specific or measurable. Erik recommends getting very specific about your goals, making a plan for how to achieve them, and then tracking them on a regular basis. He's also a fan of telling people that will help keep you accountable. Erik has a couple of goals this year: Shave 36 minutes off his Ironman time, get 6-pack abs by his birthday in June, take a big family vacation, and get to $3.5 million in annual recurring revenue. What will yours be? — Erik J. Olson is an award-winning digital marketer & entrepreneur. The Found

  • Falling Short On My 2020 Goals

    31/12/2020 Duration: 05min

At the end of 2019 Kevin laid out some professional and personal goals he wanted to achieve in 2020. They included joining an advisory board, reading 24 books in the year, reading 100 digital marketing articles, getting to the gym 15 days out of the month, and booking 10 in-person speaking engagements. Now, at the end of 2020, Kevin admits he fell short on his goals. Some were impacted by COVID, like the in-person speaking engagements and going to the gym, but some he knows he could have done better with. Now is a good time to reevaluate your goals and set new ones. See what goals you can set for the new year and revisit old ones. — Erik J. Olson is an award-winning digital marketer & entrepreneur. • Remote VS. In-Person Work - People Need To Interact

    30/12/2020 Duration: 04min

There is a raging debate at the end of 2020 about whether the office as we know it is completely dead. Some people say they don’t need an office and can work remotely forever while their opponents say “not so fast.” Erik happens to be part of the “not so fast” camp. Human beings are creatures of habit and can’t quite be satisfied with remote work. As the COVID vaccine rolls out, people will become more accustomed to the old way of doing things. — Erik J. On this daily podcast, we talk about all the things we’re doing at the company, all of our thoughts on how we want the company to run, and our strategies moving forward. There is very little that we hold back from this podcast. If you’re a listener or you watch on YouTube, you are getting about 95% of the things that are happening or will be happening at both of our companies. The things that are said on this podcast to the whole world may not be repeated in a private setting at the company. • Why It’s Important To Have A Single Point Of Contact

    27/12/2020 Duration: 03min

Kevin spent over a decade running an agency where they had lots of points of contact. Every member of his team would talk to the client individually and on the client side, we had tons of different people that would email and call our team. At Array Digital, we had clients talking to every member of the team. Over the last year and a half, we’ve established a single point of contact very early in the sales process. The salesperson will establish that Jamal is the single point of contact to act as a liaison for the entire project. It’s also important to establish a single point of contact on the client’s side. There’s no way to avoid having contact with other people on their team but ensure that there is one main person that everything is filtered through. — Erik J. • Take Advantage Of Downtime During The Holidays

    26/12/2020 Duration: 03min

Recently, Erik sat down with the Rival Digital team and talked about how things would likely get slow as we head into the last 2 weeks of the year. What we’ve found over time is that the whole week between Christmas and New Years’, the business world just shuts down. But that actually starts in the week before Christmas too. Last year, before COVID, we let our staff work from home because we know work would be relatively slow. The Rival Digital team decided to invest in that downtime and do some marketing during that time. They decided to put together a list of prospects and send postcards to them. — Erik J. • Vision Without Execution Is Hallucination

    25/12/2020 Duration: 03min

This is a quote from Thomas Edison that has played a big role in the business. In thinking about your goals in January, you may have a vision but if you don’t set KPIs, milestones, and smaller goals along the way, you are not executing them effectively. This next year, we’re going to be more intentional about what goals we’re setting and not just setting a big goal for the entire year. Those big goals can be broken down week by week or month by month to ensure we are executing on them. — Erik J. Olson is an award-winning digital marketer & entrepreneur. • Before You Buy For Your Business, Make Sure You Know Your Business

    24/12/2020 Duration: 05min

Here at Array Digital, we’ll look at a product or service and get wow’d by all its features and we want that shiny new toy. But then we have to stop and say, what problem are we actually trying to solve. Sometimes it’s not clear; we just want that new toy and everything it promises. We recently pulled the plug on a piece of software we were evaluating because we just weren’t convinced. It was an ERP that basically runs your entire company. Think about: Can it make us money? Can it save us money? And, even if we do get increased efficiencies, what does that look like? — Erik J. Olson is an award-winning digital marketer & entrepreneur. • Array Digital Has New Swag

    23/12/2020 Duration: 04min

We got new swag here at Array Digital: hats, T-shirts, hoodies, and long-sleeved tees. What’s the big deal? We haven’t bought swag for the company in about 4 years. It was time for us to invest. When we made that first round of swag purchases, money was much tighter than it is now. We wanted to buy this swag to give it to our employees. There’s a lot of pride in seeing all your employees wearing your company name and it helps us, in the long run, to retain people. — Erik J. Olson is an award-winning digital marketer & entrepreneur. • Why Masterminds Are Worth The Investment

    22/12/2020 Duration: 04min

If you think masterminds are too expensive, think again. A lot of people think about joining a mastermind group but are nervous about the price tag that comes along with it. It can rack up to several thousand dollars. Erik has been involved in a couple masterminds and they have completely and permanently changed the business. • Erik Is *This Close* to Publishing Million Dollar Journey

    21/12/2020 Duration: 03min

One of Erik’s New Year’s resolutions for 2020 was to publish a book this year. And he’s made it happen! His first book will be published on December 26th. Why did he pick that date? It took the entire year for him to accomplish this. He wrote the whole book last December of 2019 then went through the rest of the book-writing and publishing process. All the pieces have come together, he just needs the final artwork then it’s off to the press. The book is all about his 8-year journey to go from $0 in revenue to $1 million in revenue. Since then, it’s taken about 2 years to double that to $2 million. The first million is the hardest so this book goes through why it’s so hard, what problems Erik encountered that you are likely to also encounter, and lessons learned from all the stumbling blocks over 8 years. There are tons of takeaways. If you buy this book, you will be able to take your business over $1 million way faster. — Erik J. Olson is an award-winning digital marketer & entrepreneur. The Founde

  • Reading The Audio For Million Dollar Journey Was Hard!

    20/12/2020 Duration: 04min

Erik is coming to the end of his first book-writing journey. He started writing it in December 2019 and finished it in a month but it has taken the rest of the year to complete the book-writing process. He found that writing it was easy but then he had to edit it four times through. He also has a graphic designer creating the cover which he can soon send it off for printing. The last step is creating the audio file for the book. — Erik J. Olson is an award-winning digital marketer & entrepreneur. • Setting The Wrong Expectations Is A Client Killer

    19/12/2020 Duration: 03min

Time and time again, we continue to battle expectations and set the proper expectations. Typically when something happens and something goes wrong, it comes down to communication and setting the right expectations. Sometimes we get caught up and don’t document benchmarks and it’s too late to do it once the project and work have started. If the expectations are super high, you may not price it properly then you’re getting paid less for more work. There’s no way to go back and change it in that situation. Do your due diligence to set the right expectations from the beginning. — Erik J. Olson is an award-winning digital marketer & entrepreneur. • Virtual Holiday Party

    18/12/2020 Duration: 04min

It is the end of 2020 and things like in-person get-togethers can’t really happen including our annual office holiday party. Here at Array Digital, however, the majority of our staff is not local so we are already a remote company. We are an office-first remote company. Last year, we flew everyone and their partners in for a big holiday party on a Saturday. We had limos take us around, happy hour, dinner, then drinks and dancing afterward. We wanted to do something even bigger this year but the reality is that it wouldn’t be responsible in 2020. A virtual holiday party is the next best thing so we’re going to do the kinds of activities we normally do at our Christmas party including Array Digital trivia. — Erik J. • Bad Idea: Giving Someone A Raise Then Terminating Them

    16/12/2020 Duration: 04min

This has actually happened twice recently. It’s a mistake. In one of the situations, we didn’t give the person quite as big of a raise as other people would get under the same circumstances because there were HR things going on. For the other person, it was more for appeasement but we didn’t know if it would solve the underlying HR issue. It solved the situation for about a day then the same issue popped back up soon after. In retrospect, if you have an HR issue with someone, you need to red flag that and when their annual review comes around, they don’t get a raise. Red flag things by having written warnings. The first step is an oral warning. It’s clear to the employee that this is a warning; it’s not a casual conversation. Step 2 is the first written warning, then a 2nd written warning, and finally, termination. If you have someone progressing through those disciplinary actions, they should be considered on a different path than the other members of the team. — Erik J. Olson is an award-winning dig
