Episode 18 - Top 25 Marvels - Number 7
22/01/2019 Duration: 01h02minJoin us as we continue our countdown of the top 25 Marvel comics of all time! Number seven is a stone cold classic that's also a long-form run on one of Marvel's biggest characters. The word "epic" often gets thrown around as an inappropriate adjective, but in this case, it's an accurate description for the seventh greatest Marvel of all time. As noted in the show description for episode 17, the original recording for this episode was about twice as along because we discussed numbers eight AND seven on our list. We decided to break it up into two episodes after we finished recording. Thus, here's part two of that original recording, presented as its own episode. (We even recorded a brief intro.) Episode 17 - Top 25 Marvels - Number 8
21/01/2019 Duration: 01h03minJoin us as we continue our countdown of the top 25 Marvel comics of all time! In this episode, we've got one of the most notable prestige and painted projects of the '90s. (How's that for some alliteration?) The original recording for this episode was about twice as along because we discussed numbers eight AND seven on our list. We decided to break it up into two episodes after we finished recording, so if the end of this episode sounds a bit abrupt, that's why. We'll upload the second half of the recording (where we discuss number 7 on the list) as a separate episode. Feel free to comment, or email us at betweenthegutterspodcast@gmail.com! Episode 16 - Recommendations: Superhero Fiction
02/11/2018 Duration: 02h02minEvery so often, we get listeners and friends who ask us for recommendations on what to read. It's often an overwhelming question, but we're making it easy for ourselves by limiting ourselves to only one recommendation. This is the first in what we expect to be a recurring feature in our podcast. We're aided and abetted by our allies and fellow veteran comics fans, Alexander Sheynis and Julian Zachary Hanna. Between the four of us, we'll each share one recommendation and spend some time talking about what makes our recommended book special. In this episode, we share recommendations for superhero fiction. In future installments, we'll discuss our picks for a whole slew of various genres and categories, like crime fiction, fantasy, science fiction, historical fiction, biography, music, food/cooking, nonfiction, and much more. (Yes - comics about music, and comics about food/cooking. We try to read a lot of stuff!) We hope you enjoy the episode! Let us know what your recommendations are! We're always down to t

Episode 9 - Comics We Liked When We Were Kids (We Ain't Kids No More)
06/04/2018 Duration: 01h44minBetween the Gutters welcomes our good friend and ally Zach Hanna. In this special episode, we take a break from the top 25 Marvels and simply discuss comics we liked when we were kids. This is a thematic follow-up to episode 5 when we had Sheynis on our show to talk about how we got into comics. Here, it's about the comics we liked when we were young lads, and how our tastes have evolved with age... We ain't kids no more, so what runs through our minds when we look back at the stuff we used to love? Keep in mind that kids eat paste... Anyway, we hope you enjoy this episode.
