Geekly Distraction

What was supposed to be an easy episode turned out to be a doozy. We had to rate Disney Princesses, people! Do you know how hard that is? First, we weeded out non Princesses, then we had to rate with a rubric. We rated their songs, personality, style, character development, etc. Mind you, this episode might be a little girlie but we grew up with these movies. Let us know if you agree with our rankings. Who still watches the Fast and the Furious franchise movies? We know we do and there are still a lot of you out there too! We are back this week with a special episode. This is a back to back sports episode but unlike last week's episode where we discussed the dark mind of someone, this week, we look into the talent that was Kobe Bryant. For Valentine's Week, we wanted to share our love for basketball and one of our favorite basketball players of all time. Kobe Bryant was our childhood. We (Adriana and Alex) started watching the Lakers the year before he came into the NBA. We watched him grow as both a player and as a person. RIP to all those lost that day., what a horrible tragedy.

This was a doozy. We dove deep into the Netflix special on Aaron Hernandez (Killer Inside: The Mind of Aaron Hernandez) and the podcast (Gladiator: Aaron Hernandez). This guy had a complicated childhood, bad influences, was not taught morals and never faced consequences until he was caught for murder. Would his life be any different if he had a stable childhood? Would he have murdered people if he had consequences the very first time he broke the law? Or if he didn't have C.T.E.? There are so many unanswered questions. "I want people to be afraid of how much they love me." The Office had so many funny quotes, we couldn't just stop at one. The show had so many great characters and storylines. Our review of the new streaming service, which came out in November of 2019 hit some highs and some lows. We somehow ended up talking about Marvel and how horrible DC movies are. Don't fret, we get back at the task at hand and even mention what we're most looking forward to on the new service. How do you feel about it? Disney plus, not out love for Marvel over DC. **SPOILER ALERT for the following movies: Knives Out, Murder on the Orient Express and Wind River. This week we discuss the movie Knives Out and movies like it. This movie kept us on our toes. We basically suspected everyone Dwight Schrute from the Office helped us pick out the murder. "It's never the person you most suspect. It's also never the person you least suspect, since anyone with half a brain would suspect them the most. Therefore I know the killer to be Phyllis, AKA Beatrix Bourbon, the person I most medium suspect." Sorry, we had to throw in that quote. Thanks, Dwight! Happy Holidays! We live in the US where you are free to celebrate or NOT celebrate whatever the heck you want. While WE celebrate the season, we don't particularly believe in "Christmas". So, we took a dive into where some traditions started. We (or at least one of us) saw the comparisons between Horus and Jesus Christ for the first time. Did y'all know the Virgin Mary "got pregnant" through the ear? Crazy, huh? We do NOT hate Christmas we just don't understand why it's celebrated as Jesus' birthday. For our first episode we covered Frozen 2. We mainly focused on our thoughts on the songs of the movie. We also discuss the darkness that is in plain sight. Depression, anxiety and mental illness was a strong story line and one we couldn't miss talking about. What did you guys think about Lost In The Woods? Were you a fan like Alex? Welcome back to season 5 of Geekly Distraction! We took a break but cannot wait to start a new season. Our seasons are usually mapped out before we start recording. This time around, we have an idea of where we want to go. This bare with us as we ramble on and on. Mind you starting a new season just before Christmas probably wasn't the greatest idea.

We are back! But only for Halloween. :)We discuss two of our favorite family-friendly Halloween movies. We plan to discuss scary movies/shows in the future but for now, we left is as childhood movies because we went into childhood experiences with the paranormal. We have plenty of other stories but again we stuck to the earliest ones. We promise to come back to this subject in the future. None of these stories are fabricated. Our memories might be fogged but we don't think so. We'll be back for a brand new season in a couple of weeks. Until then, enjoy.

It's the end of our Summer season. We will be taking a small break to come up with new episodes. Join us as we go back to our summers likes and dislikes. On this second half of the episode, we discuss the rest of the characters and how they deal with their own issues. These teens are going through a lot and we think that these issues have to be talked about on a daily basis. We cannot heal until we speak and shine a light on these awful subjects. Some of the issues we mention are ICE taking Tony's family, the survivors coming forward and acknowledging that they've been sexually assaulted, abortion, and everything in between. Our episode was too long so we ended up cutting it into two different episodes. The first half of the episode was spent discussing Bryce Walker. Season 3 of 13 Reasons Why showed us a more in-depth look at who Bryce Walker was. While we think this season humanized him, Bryce was still a monster. For the most part, we agree that Bryce Walker (rapists) was made, he wasn't born that way. He was a layered character. Did he get any salvation? What do you think about what he went through? We forgot to watch a show and were NOT prepared so we took another easy/lazy week. This time we focused on our favorite 90's comedy movies. Just a warning but we bicker a LOT in this episode. It's finally here! We geek out on all the MCU movies. Marvel over DC all day err day! Not only did we score every Marvel movie individually (it took us about two hours) but we also go into characters. To condense this episode, we only discuss our top 3 movies and the bottom 3 movies. The ONLY reason we have 3 bottom movies is NOT that they're bad it's that they scored the lowest. We got very tired while recording so we stumble over the smallest words. Forgive us.
