Police get a 911 call from a man named Brad who says he fears for his safety after an older man, William, has hit the back of his truck. While Brad is still on the phone with police, he claims William is advancing on him and pulls the trigger on his rifle. The bullet strikes William in the head and kills him. When Sgt. George is called out to the scene, he learns that Brad is a 30-something, UFC-trained fighter, and former military sniper, while William, ‘Brad’s aggressor,’ is a boozy 60-year-old. In this case, Detective Dave walks us through his investigation of two online predators who were sexually exploiting children online and how multiple agencies around the country work together to try to keep children safe. In a rural western town, where everyone knows everyone, a casual night of good friends hanging out turns deadly.  Special Guest: Sheriff Carl Sheriff Carl began his career in law enforcement in 1991 after he was honorably discharged from the Air Force. He started out as a patrol officer and in 2005 he was promoted to detective. The jurisdiction he served was so small he was often the only detective at his agency. Over the course of his career Sheriff Carl has investigated everything from property crimes to homicides. When a child first reveals they are the victim of abuse it’s a process police call “disclosure.” That’s where Nichole comes in. She’s a trained forensic investigator and relies on a mix of research and empathy to give the victims a voice and bring criminals to justice. Special Guest:  Nichole Nichole is currently the Lead Forensic Interviewer for her local Child Advocacy Center. Since 2006, she has been interviewing children who have been witness to, or victims of crime and has conducted over 3,800 interviews. She testifies as an expert witness in child development, disclosure processes, and other topics related to child abuse. In addition to interviewing, she is currently a State and Regional trainer and has been involved in revising the State Guidelines for 2014 and 2017 reviews.  She has a BA degree in Law and Justice and a MS degree in Psychology with an emphasis on child and adolescent development.   Hosted on Acast. A young man’s trusting nature ends up having deadly consequences.  Special Guest: Det. David When Detective David started out in law enforcement in 2002, his agency was so small they doubled as both police officers and firefighters, carrying their dual-purpose gear in the trunk of their patrol cars. After three years of doing double duty, David was promoted to detective. He has also served as a Patrol Sergeant and was elected Under Sherriff of his county in 2011.
