Synopsis

Yeardley Smith and Zibby Allen host this frank, unfiltered true crime podcast with Small Town Detectives and identical twins, Dan and Dave. Dan investigates Violent Crimes. Dave investigates Sex Crimes and Child Abuse. Often peppered with primary resources such as 9-1-1 calls and suspect interrogation recordings, each episode introduces a new crime, and is told by the detectives who investigated it. But Yeardley and Zibby dont just settle for the who, why, how and where of it all, they also seek to uncover the human side of their guests, offering a glimpse into the raw reality of true crime in Small Town, USA. While Brad is still on the phone with police, he claims William is advancing on him and pulls the trigger on his rifle. The bullet strikes William in the head and kills him. When Sgt. George is called out to the scene, he learns that Brad is a 30-something, UFC-trained fighter, and former military sniper, while William, ‘Brad’s aggressor,’ is a boozy 60-year-old. He started out as a patrol officer and in 2005 he was promoted to detective. The jurisdiction he served was so small he was often the only detective at his agency. Over the course of his career Sheriff Carl has investigated everything from property crimes to homicides.     When a child first reveals they are the victim of abuse it’s a process police call “disclosure.” That’s where Nichole comes in. She’s a trained forensic investigator and relies on a mix of research and empathy to give the victims a voice and bring criminals to justice. Special Guest:  Nichole Nichole is currently the Lead Forensic Interviewer for her local Child Advocacy Center. Since 2006, she has been interviewing children who have been witness to, or victims of crime and has conducted over 3,800 interviews. She testifies as an expert witness in child development, disclosure processes, and other topics related to child abuse.
