Eric Andersen of The Novelists
02/10/2016 Duration: 01h23minChapter 77: "Some quiet conversation" ...as read by Eric Andersen of The Novelists For this chapter we are joined by Eric Andersen of The Novelists. Eric was nice enough to sit down having just moved into a new home and wasn't even unpacked yet to keep his commitment to this podcast. The Novelists are a beautiful find from a friend who recommended I listen to their cover of "Africa" by Toto...but once I got started I couldn't stop. I am excited to hopefully introduce this Reno, Nevada gem to those who have never heard of them. We take our time and showcase a lot of music from their new album "Breaking The Script" throughout the entire conversation. Eric discusses his friendship with legendary Genesis guitarist Darryl Stuermer, what he learned from watching Billy Joel master classes and performing in Cowboy Stadium versus playing in a living room. It isn't always heavy stuff here at ATSG headquarters and The Novelists are proof as to how good it can get. Chapter 77 Links: The No

Mark Garza of Embodyment / The Famine (Part Two)
07/08/2016 Duration: 52minChapter 71: "Keep It In The Family" ...as read by Mark Garza of Embodyment / The Famine / Constant Seas All in all, Mark Garza is happy with how his life has turned out. The drummer best known for his work with The Famine and Embodyment has become a successful business man, has a family submersed in musical talent and is still involved in producing quite a bit of music. In this second half of his story we discuss how record labels are what they are, his current project called Constant Seas and the slightly different goal that they have, music with his family and feeling accomplished with what he has achieved. This is an uplifting story that I hope is enjoyed as much as it is uncomfortable. Mark Garza of Embodyment/ The Famine (Part One)
31/07/2016 Duration: 01h14minChapter 70: "Our Shit DID stink" ...as read by Mark Garza of Embodyment/ The Famine/ Constant Seas Mark Garza discusses building Dominoes Pizzas, Roger Martinez and being an honest musician in the studio. In the process of this interview Mark feels the need to call some people out which results in this being a long one that gets split into two chapters. We get to the bottom of why Embodyment went through such drastic changes and Mark's troubling position with Kris. Mark explains why he isn't on board with Nick Nowells' beliefs but he respects that Nicks'...beliefs takes....balls.... to say the least. We take a refreshingly real book at the Christian scene and some eye raising contractual obligations. All in all, Mark still respects Living Sacrifice for keeping it real. This was so great and I'm proud to bring it to you, rough edges and all. Whatever. Get over it. "I'll just leave that right there..." John LaMacchia of Candiria
24/07/2016 Duration: 01h16minChapter 69: "What Didn't Kill John..." ...as read by John LaMacchia of Candiria YES! John Lamacchia of the almighty and seemingly indestructable Candiria tells us his chapter of the story. "BeBop" tells us of his early band Dead Air and Ken's band Intrigue and how that jam session resulted in John's enterance into the Candiria fold. John Lamacchia tells us about Ken's perhaps 500 deep song vault, the famous accident that should've killed the entire band, literally watching 9/11, prescription drug addiction, his band Spylocopa, new Candiria album with Metal Blade, working with new members Dan and Julio and sleeping in a childs sleeping bag on a dog mattress. Like Candirias' amazing music , there is something in this chapter for everyone. Thanks for listening. Erik Mendez formerly of Christian metal powerhouse Tourniquet picks up with where we left off. We discuss a little more Ted, a few more stories and Erik and I step track by track through each song on Tourniquets' second LP "Psycho Surgery" and third LP "Pathogenic Ocular Dissonance". Erik Mendez of Tourniquet (Part One)
10/07/2016 Duration: 01h20minChapter 67: "Calling All Teds" ...as read by Erik Mendez (formerly of Tourniquet) Erik Mendez. Erik friggin' Mendez. My lovely scattered few listeners...I'm not exaggerating when I tell you this is the least amount of control I have had during a discussion. Erik had so many entertaining things to say that I had to pull a double. We discuss everything from the demise of the quinessential Tourniquet line-up to taking fish antibiotics. We get acid dropping stories, almost fist-fighting in a bathroom in Germany, gun control, politics, playing guitar in the Philippines drunk as a twelve-year-old. Just enjoy a very rare appearance of the ever-elusive Erik Mendez. The only thing more amazing than his crazy guitar solos is what could possibly come out of his mouth next. Bjorn Bauer (Artist/Illustrator) Part One
29/05/2016 Duration: 01h02sArtist and new friend Bjorn Bauer joins us for two weeks of stories of what it's like to be a missionary kid in search of music. Bjorns' story is a reminder as to how priveledged we are and take our resources for granted. Bjorn made due with barely anything and developed a hunger for music which became a passion for art. He tells how a UN soldier handed him a shoebox of dubbed cassettes with no art that changed his life. A random missionary woman handed Bjorn his first metal cassette...he doesn't even know why she had it with her that day. It only takes a spark to get a fire burning. I love this story and I hope you do too. All things Bjorn: http://bjornbauerart.com Chapter 62 Music: Keith Green: "...So You Wanna Go Back To Egypt?"
