The purpose statement of the book of Acts can be summed up in Jesus’s commission in Acts 1:8: “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

He is the same unfailing, good God that he has always been so lift up your eyes to the hills, because your help comes from the Lord! You can have faith in the storm if + You belong to God + You worship God + You trust the Word of God. You can trust God to work out his will in your life, but it probably won’t go how you thought it would.

Acts 26:1-32—The New Testament’s fulfillment of the resurrection in Jesus Christ is the greatest news that validates the good news — that all who call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved! The invitation of Jesus is to repent and turn to God. Every time we see Paul facing ridicule, imprisonment, or even just debating — at the center of his message is always “Jesus and the resurrection.” Resurrection is not a New Testament belief. What the Old Testament says about the resurrection not only proves Jesus is the Messiah, but it speaks to our deadness and need for resurrection.

When we choose to build our life on God as Holy Creator and have a high view of what He has said in His word, it brings healing, life, and joy.

Reasonable faith in the life of a disciple secures our eternit in Jesus. — When you’ve heard the whole message of the Bible, dealt with the idols of your heart, and responded to the invitation to repent and follow Jesus, then you understand that your eternity is secure.

Brent Thomas in the series, Sent! Acts 22:30-23:35—God’s providence is over all human plans. — God is working ALL things according to the counsel of His will. His providence isn’t always about overcoming or overpowering evil and bad things right now—God’s providence is about redeeming evil and bad things to lead to His glory!

Acts 21:37-22:29—What avenue has God given you as a disciple of Jesus to share your testimony of a changed life? — Questions reveal so much about our hearts—and here as we examine Paul’s testimony we see the transformation that is taking place when he meets Jesus when he simply asks: “What shall I do, Lord?”

Mitch Helmkamp in the series, Sent! Acts 21:1-36 — Follow Jesus, no matter the cost, for He is worthy. It could be easy to consider the life and ministry of Paul and think: “Wow, what a guy, thanks Paul.” And then go on with our lives. Luke is showing us that Paul is what it looks like to follow Jesus. In other words, Luke is saying follow Paul as he followed Christ.

The world around us shouts that you should preserve your life. The world around us shouts that you should fear death. And Paul gives us something so much higher to aim for!

In the valley of rejection, shake it off and move the mission forward. In the valley of fear, remember the simple truths God said. In the valley of opposition, trust in what Christ has said. In the valley of new beginnings, continue to live sent.
